AND IT CAME TO PASS!
Galatians 6:9 TLB
And let us not get tired of
doing what is right, for after a while we will reap a harvest of blessing if we
don't get discouraged and give up.
"It Came to Pass” is a
message of Hope
The phrase "it came to
pass" is a somewhat old-fashioned or biblical way of saying "it
happened" or "it occurred." It's often used to introduce a story
or event in a formal or poetic way. Expressions like "And it came to
pass" and "This too shall pass" are often used to comfort those
going through tough times.
Everything in life has a
start date and an end date. We see dates on products telling us how long we can
keep them unopened, opened, and even where to store them. There’s a "use
by" date and an expiration date-this is to ensure our safety and well-being,
preventing us from getting sick or worse.
"And it came to
pass" means that something will happen eventually; it’s like saying,
"then it happened that..." or "at some point..." In fact,
"and it came to pass" appears 396 times in the King James Bible. This
repetition reminds us that any situation we face doesn’t last forever-they come
to pass. Hard times and crises don’t come to stay; they come to pass.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 tells us
that there is an appointed time for every situation-a specific point in time
for things to start and to end.
Let us not grow weary in
waiting, doing, or praying. There is always a danger of getting tired while
waiting for the manifestation of what we are believing God for, but Hebrews
10:36 encourages us that the reward is only attainable if we persist in waiting,
even when we don’t know the end date.
And it came to pass!
There will be situations
that look and sound impossible, but God is always faithful to bring them to
pass. Even now, the Lord is working to make all things work together for our
good, as Romans 8:28 assures us.
Joshua 21:45 is especially
encouraging regarding God’s promises and their fulfilment. Joshua declared to
the children of Israel that everything God promised them-every situation they
had been through-did come to pass.
In due season we shall reap.
At the right or appointed time, eventually, it will come to pass. Every crop
planted is harvested in due season; no matter how much the farmer wishes for a
quick harvest, he must wait. In the same way, as believers, we must not become
weary in doing good, serving in ministry, carrying out our assignments, and
praying, until we receive our reward.
And this too shall pass! Don’t
get discouraged. Whatever trials and tests you are facing now won’t last
forever. One day, you will look back and realize they were all part of God’s
plan to shape you into the person He wants you to be, as James 1:2-4 teaches
us.
"And it came to
pass" means the Lord is utterly true to His good promises and will bring
them to pass in His time, as Ecclesiastes 3:11 states. Whatever God has
promised has a life expectancy and will happen at the expected time.
- 2 Kings 2:1 says, “and it
came to pass,” referring to what God had revealed to Elijah about his departure
from earth. In the meantime, God took him on what seemed like a fruitless
journey until the chariot of fire took him up.
- Isaac came to pass in
Genesis 21.
- Samuel came to pass in 1
Samuel 1.
- Joseph’s dream came to
pass in Genesis 41:37-57.
- The children of Israel
left Egypt in Exodus 13:17 after 430 years.
And whatever you are going
through shall come to pass!
PRAYER: Lord, thank You for
the assurance that whatever I go through has an end date and it too shall pass.
May I never give up on the confidence of this assurance, in Jesus’ name, amen.
