SEASONS OF THE WORD

Proverbs 18:21 NASB Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit. Seasons come and go, but God’s word remains firm and sure forever, according to Isaiah 40:8. What season are you in now? Do you even recognize the season you are in? Do you know that the only weapon applicable to every season is the word of God? Deuteronomy 30:14 says the word of God is in our mouths and hearts, in our minds, which means we’ve got to use our mouths and words wisely to change our seasons if we don’t like them. The spoken word cannot be recalled, so be sure of your confessions and declarations before you utter them. Be sure you’re speaking the right and wise word over your life, your family, loved ones, and finances. Value your words because God values them and waits expectantly to hear your faith-filled words, as seen in Isaiah 55:11. Life is forever changing, and since 2020, there has been a drastic and monumental change in how we remember many things. What big ...

ASSUMPTIONS

Proverbs 18:2 AMPC A [self-confident] fool has no delight in understanding but only in revealing his personal opinions and himself. My friend and I were conversing a few days ago, discussing a particular situation, and we both said the word “assumption” at the same time. This led us to talk about how many assumptions we make in various situations. What exactly is an assumption? An assumption is when beliefs or premises are taken as true without evidence. The Bible often warns against making assumptions about others or situations without seeking understanding. For example, our text highlights the importance of seeking knowledge before forming opinions. We are all guilty of assumptions, especially the negative kind. We are quick to assume the worst of someone or something, aren’t we? Assumption is a very dangerous pastime. However, assumptions are dangerous when we fail to recognize that sometimes they are just assumptions and are not based on either experience or other forms of evidence...

THE BREAD OF HIS PRESENCE

Leviticus 24:1-9 NLT The LORD said to Moses,  [2] “Command the people of Israel to bring you pure oil of pressed olives for the light, to keep the lamps burning continually.  [3] This is the lampstand that stands in the Tabernacle, in front of the inner curtain that shields the Ark of the Covenant. Aaron must keep the lamps burning in the LORD’s presence all night. This is a permanent law for you, and it must be observed from generation to generation.  [4] Aaron and the priests must tend the lamps on the pure gold lampstand continually in the LORD’s presence.  [5] “You must bake twelve flat loaves of bread from choice flour, using four quarts of flour for each loaf.  [6] Place the bread before the LORD on the pure gold table, and arrange the loaves in two stacks, with six loaves in each stack.  [7] Put some pure frankincense near each stack to serve as a representative offering, a special gift presented to the LORD. [8] Every Sabbath day this bread must be ...

LOOK AGAIN!

1 Kings 18:41-46 NLT Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Go get something to eat and drink, for I hear a mighty rainstorm coming!”  [42] So Ahab went to eat and drink. But Elijah climbed to the top of Mount Carmel and bowed low to the ground and prayed with his face between his knees.  [43] Then he said to his servant, “Go and look out toward the sea.” The servant went and looked, then returned to Elijah and said, “I didn’t see anything.” Seven times Elijah told him to go and look.  [44] Finally the seventh time, his servant told him, “I saw a little cloud about the size of a man’s hand rising from the sea.” Then Elijah shouted, “Hurry to Ahab and tell him, ‘Climb into your chariot and go back home. If you don’t hurry, the rain will stop you!’”  [45] And soon the sky was black with clouds. A heavy wind brought a terrific rainstorm, and Ahab left quickly for Jezreel. [46] Then the LORD gave special strength to Elijah. He tucked his cloak into his belt and ran ahead of Ahab’s c...

IMAGINE!

IMAGINE 1 Corinthians 8:2 RSV If anyone imagines that he knows something, he does not yet know as he ought to know. Imagination is something everyone has but don't use, either because they don't know how, or they use it wrongly. Imagination is the first step to becoming whatever! Your mind sees, hears, feels and achieve before you ever do physically or naturally.  Imagination is the formation of ideas or pictures in the mind of a vision, it is to form a mental image of someone or thing, or to conceive in the mind. Imagination is also to scheme or to devise plans and purposes says Psalm 62:3. Cultivating a godly imagination involves aligning our thoughts and creativity with God’s will and purposes. We can nurture our imagination by incorporating prayer, meditation, practising gratitude and surrounding ourselves with godly influence into our daily lives, we can nurture a godly imagination that reflects our faith and brings glory to God.  Imagination is a powerful tool that can c...

BOUNCE-BACK POWER

Micah 7:8 MEV Do not rejoice over me, my enemy! Although I have fallen, I will rise; although I dwell in darkness, the LORD is my light. They say tough times don’t last; but tough people, do! That’s very true as Psalm 30:5 puts it, weeping (tough and challenging times) endures only for a season and then it’s over. Life happens to us all and tries to keep on down and out. Some, sadly, succumb to the pressures and storms of life and give up, when they fall, they have no power, strength and motivation to bounce back. People’s reaction to tough seasons differs, some easily bounce back from the brink of a breakdown or trauma, some rebound partially, while others just give in and give up with no fight left in them. God created us with a bounce-back power to cope and overcome every situation, but you must rely on God because we know He’s on our side and the trials that happen in our lives are for our good and His glory according to Joshua 1:9. They say the only way up is down! The harder you ...

JUST A SHADOW

Hebrews 10:1 CSB Since the law has only a shadow of the good things to come, and not the reality itself of those things, it can never perfect the worshipers by the same sacrifices they continually offer year after year. It’s only a shadow! A shadow is a dark area or shape produced by a body coming between rays of light and a surface: a silhouette, outline, shape, contour, or profile. Depending on the context, it can also represent ominous oppressiveness, sadness, and gloom—a sense of gloom, black cloud, threat, and blight. Everything we go through in life on earth is just a shadow. They have no substance that can outweigh God because God Himself is our shadow in whom we can hide and take refuge, according to Psalm 57:1. Imagine taking shelter only in the shadow of God and how comforting and secure that is. Then imagine the total protection that comes from hiding within the totality of God’s presence. God’s shadow not only protects us but, according to Psalm 23:4, He even walks through ...

OVERFLOW ME, LORD

Proverbs 3:10 (GW)  Then your barns will be full, and your vats will overflow with fresh wine.  Overflow! Abundance! These are synonymous with God’s love and grace. God always gives and does things in abundance as it even appears 71 times in the bible. God always gives us in overflow. To live in overflow means to run over the brim of a container, it is when a vessel flows over with water or other fluid, to spread over, or to be overwhelmed with something. When the hand of God rests on us, there’ll be an abundance of everything- an “overflowing." The context is one of economic prosperity promised to God’s people. Overflow is God’s divine outpouring of benevolence on us. Our lives begin to run over the bounds of normal allowance, to becoming full of superabundance. An overflowing life is an outlet for the surplus to flow to others, meaning according to 2 Corinthians 9:8 (GW) God will give you his constantly overflowing kindness. Then, when you always have everything, you need, y...

THE UNRIGHTEOUS JUDGE

2 Samuel 12:1-9 NLT So the LORD sent Nathan the prophet to tell David this story: "There were two men in a certain town. One was rich, and one was poor.  [2] The rich man owned a great many sheep and cattle.  [3] The poor man owned nothing but one little lamb he had bought. He raised that little lamb, and it grew up with his children. It ate from the man's own plate and drank from his cup. He cuddled it in his arms like a baby daughter.  [4] One day a guest arrived at the home of the rich man. But instead of killing an animal from his own flock or herd, he took the poor man's lamb and killed it and prepared it for his guest."  [5] David was furious. "As surely as the LORD lives," he vowed, "any man who would do such a thing deserves to die! [6] He must repay four lambs to the poor man for the one he stole and for having no pity."  [7] Then Nathan said to David, "You are that man! The LORD, the God of Israel, says: I anointed you king of Israel...

GOD OF TRUTH

John 17:17 CSB Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. God is truly true! The saying, “the truth will set you free” has almost disappeared from society, but it’s not just the truth setting you free; it’s also the truth you know, acknowledge, and accept that sets you free. The God of truth, one of God’s names, expresses His faithfulness, honesty, and truthfulness, based on His trustworthiness. Romans 3:4 says only God is true. God sanctifying us by His truth means making us holy or pure, consecrating or separating us from earthly and ungodly issues to devoted or dedicated service to Him. What is truth? Pontius Pilate asked Jesus but didn’t wait for an answer. Society teaches that there is no absolute truth, that what you say is not the truth, and that what others say is not the truth. What is the truth then? The absolute truth is based only on the word of God. Truth is not something; truth is someone, and when you find Him, the one described in John 1:1-2, you find the truth. Je...

CONFESS YOUR CHANGE

Isaiah 65:16 NLT All who invoke a blessing or take an oath will do so by the God of truth. For I will put aside my anger and forget the evil of earlier days. Proverbs 18:21 says the power of life and death are in the tongue, in our mouths, and our confession. What you say and how you say it matters. We can bless or curse ourselves with our mouth and confession. As Galatians 6:7 says, whatever we sow is what we reap. You can bring a blessing to your life by speaking the positive truth of God’s word, or you can bring a curse by speaking the negative lies of the enemy or the flesh. Familiar spirits work through our confessions to influence our prophetic utterances and declarations. We must learn, like David said in Psalm 141:3, to guard our mouth and confessions. We must take notice of our words and confession because whatever we sow in words with our mouth is what we reap in manifestations. The enemy, Satan, always has something to say, but not necessarily good, godly words. Many have be...

BELIEVER’S AUTHORITY

Matthew 28:18-19 NLT Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.  [19] Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.   Authority is legal and rightful power, a right to command or to act on something. It is the power exercised by a person in virtue of their office or trust, to have dominion, jurisdiction, and authorization, such as the authority of a prince over subjects, of parents over children, and the authority of a court. The choices we make, the things we say, the actions we take, and what we believe about what is happening around us determine whether God or Satan dominates our lives. Satan can’t control us outside of our will. He cannot do anything without our cooperation and consent. But we must recognize that we’re in a battle and so must exercise the authority of our position in Christ. The believer’s authority is the legal or rightful powe...

NUMBERS DON’T MATTER

1 Samuel 14:6-14 GNT Jonathan said to the young man, "Let's cross over to the camp of those heathen Philistines. Maybe the LORD will help us; if he does, nothing can keep him from giving us the victory, no matter how few of us there are."  [7] The young man answered, "Whatever you want to do, I'm with you."  [8] "All right," Jonathan said. "We will go across and let the Philistines see us.  [9] If they tell us to wait for them to come to us, then we will stay where we are.  [10] But if they tell us to go to them, then we will, because that will be the sign that the LORD has given us victory over them."  [11] So they let the Philistines see them, and the Philistines said, "Look! Some Hebrews are coming out of the holes they have been hiding in!"  [12] Then they called out to Jonathan and the young man, "Come on up here! We have something to tell you!" Jonathan said to the young man, "Follow me. The LORD has given I...

BOASTING IN GOD!

Jeremiah 9:23-24 TLB The Lord says: Let not the wise man bask in his wisdom, nor the mighty man in his might, nor the rich man in his riches.  [24] Let them boast in this alone: That they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord of justice and of righteousness whose love is steadfast; and that I love to be this way. Boasting in any form is very unattractive! Boasting or bragging is to talk or write about oneself or something related to oneself in a proud or self-admiring way. It speaks of excessive pride and self-satisfaction in one’s achievements, possessions, or abilities. Boasting is when we feel a sense of satisfaction, self-worth, and pride in our achievements, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it becomes so when no other person or power is appreciated for contributing to our success. If we must boast, the Bible encourages us to boast in God and not in ourselves. Paul used the phrase “boast in the Lord” in 1 Corinthians 1:31, encouraging us to take our eyes away...

NO OTHER GOD!

Luke 16:13 AMPC No servant is able to serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stand by and be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (riches, or anything in which you trust and on which you rely). We are all familiar with the Ten Commandments, but not all of us care to honour them. Some may think they are outdated or part of the Old Testament, while others believe that the death and resurrection of Christ nullify the commandments. However, the Bible strictly forbids idolatry. One of the commands in the Ten Commandments is found in Exodus 20:4-5: “You shall not make for yourself a carved image; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them.” The NIV Study Bible states, “No deity, real or imagined, is to rival the one true God in Israel’s heart and life.” Worshipping other gods gives a false sense of security from a source other than God, who is everywhere, all-powerful, and all-knowing. 1 Kings 18 provides a go...

WHO ARE YOU?

2 Kings 3:4-12 NLT King Mesha of Moab was a sheep breeder. He used to pay the king of Israel an annual tribute of 100,000 lambs and the wool of 100,000 rams.  [5] But after Ahab's death, the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.  [6] So King Joram promptly mustered the army of Israel and marched from Samaria.  [7] On the way, he sent this message to King Jehoshaphat of Judah: "The king of Moab has rebelled against me. Will you join me in battle against him?" And Jehoshaphat replied, "Why, of course! You and I are as one. My troops are your troops, and my horses are your horses."  [8] Then Jehoshaphat asked, "What route will we take?" "We will attack from the wilderness of Edom," Joram replied.  [9] The king of Edom and his troops joined them, and all three armies traveled along a roundabout route through the wilderness for seven days. But there was no water for the men or their animals.  [10] "What should we do?" the kin...

THE BRAND

Philippians 2:9-11 TLB Yet it was because of this that God raised him up to the heights of heaven and gave him a name which is above every other name, [10] that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth, [11] and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Brand, brand, brand! Gucci! Armani! DKNY! CK! M&S, Next, Ikea, Asda, and many other brands we all know, like, and use. For many people, the more popular and expensive the brand, the better it is to show off. Brands! So many people display their brands like a red flag to a bull, drawing attention to either their wealth or their lack of sense and priority of value, without the slightest knowledge of what that brand stands for. Brands are worn as showpieces that pander to pride: “Look at me, I’m wearing an expensive designer…” Sometimes, sadly, we can’t afford these brands, but we purchase and use them anyway to look cool and belong. I see believers...

SEE GOD IN THE DARKNESS

Daniel 2:17-23 NLT Then Daniel went home and told his friends Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah what had happened.  [18] He urged them to ask the God of heaven to show them his mercy by telling them the secret, so they would not be executed along with the other wise men of Babylon.  [19] That night the secret was revealed to Daniel in a vision. Then Daniel praised the God of heaven.  [20] He said, "Praise the name of God forever and ever, for he has all wisdom and power.  [21] He controls the course of world events; he removes kings and sets up other kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the scholars.  [22] He reveals deep and mysterious things and knows what lies hidden in darkness, though he is surrounded by light.  [23] I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors, for you have given me wisdom and strength. You have told me what we asked of you and revealed to us what the king demanded." Darkness is a void—devoid of light, hope, and illuminatio...
