YOU FIT TALK NO! (PIDGIN)
'Wen yu sey, ‘Yes,’ make yu mean am and wen yu sey ‘No,’ make yu mean am too. Any oda tin wey yu tok pass dis, na devil e from kom.” '
If God wan make robot, e for
do am without sorry or permission. But e no do am; e make man, you and me, in e
own image. You no be robot or doormat. You get choice. One of those choices na
to talk "No" when you need am.
Plenty people no go fit talk
no even when e dey affect them bad because dem dey fear to vex others. Dem go
talk yes just to make others happy, or for some, na fake humility. And some
people still dey think say e dey against God law to talk no, say na their
“Christian duty” to talk yes to everybody and everything, under the wrong
belief say e dey please God. No! No be so!
"No" na answer,
correct answer to some questions. If we no get control over wetin we agree to,
we don give up the free will wey God give us. We get, as God give us, choice
and responsibility. The Bible dey encourage us to make choices. For Deuteronomy
30:19, God put "life and death, blessing and curse" before us, dey
tell us to "choose life." This one show the importance of personal
decision-making for faith and morality—the choice and responsibility to talk
yes or no when e dey necessary.
"For my yoke easy, and
my burden light," Matthew 11:30 talk. But everyday, people dey carry
burden wey no be their own, to make others happy, to no vex people, and to fit
in. We don tie ourselves into all kinds of unnecessary wahala because we no fit
talk no. We no dey use our Christ-given right of free choice and free will. We
dey tire ourselves from trying to please everybody and be the best or most
humble Christian we think we suppose be for God sake, but God no dey inside
most of the “yeses” we dey talk.
Galatians 6:5 talk say, “For
each person go carry e own load.” Na wetin dey happen when we no get boundaries
and no fit talk no freely without guilt. Unfortunately, we dey carry the
physical tiredness and spiritual drain wey we put for ourselves by always
talking yes to things we suppose talk no to.
2 Timothy 1:7 talk say God
no give us the spirit of fear. That means we must boldly talk no if we must and
no fearfully enter places and things we no get business with. We fit honestly
wan talk “no” to some things and people, but na fear dey make us talk yes, we
go end up regret am and feel guilt.
To talk "no" fit
be act of self-care and integrity, to make sure say we fit fully commit to the
things wey really matter. You get any specific situation wey you dey deal with
where you need to talk "no"? Then, make you allow Godly wisdom and
discernment as Proverbs 4:7 talk to know when to talk "no," knowing
say e dey part of living wisely.
Jesus dey encourage us for
our text to allow honesty and integrity to lead us in always giving the right
and wise answer; either "yes" or "no." This one means say
make we dey clear and honest for our commitments and boundaries. Plenty times,
we dey do things or respond with yes when we suppose talk no, under the wrong
belief say if we no talk yes to that thing, nobody else go. But you ask God?
Often, yes dey talk to avoid conflict, and to avoid this, Proverbs 4:23 dey
urge us to guard our hearts, because everything we do dey flow from am. This
fit mean to protect your time and energy by talking "no" to things
wey fit harm you or lead you away from your values.
You fit talk no if you must.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father,
thank You for creating me in Your image and giving us the gift of free will.
Help me to use this gift wisely, knowing when to talk "no" to protect
my heart, mind, and spirit. Give me the courage to set boundaries and the
wisdom to know Your will in every situation. In Jesus' name, Amen.
