FULLNESS OF JOY!

Psalm 16:11 AMPC

You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy, at Your right hand there are pleasures forevermore.

The path of life or the way of life is not driven and directed by our carnal mind and knowledge but by the strength found in the Lord’s joy.

Any form of human weakness is very unappealing, but as strong as the strongest person or group of people are, they cannot do kingdom business with mere human strength. Being physically strong is good, but as we well know, we still can’t do the work of God with human strength.

The importance of strength shows when it transcends what we can do ourselves—our ability, knowledge, and emotions.

The body of Christ can only be strong in the strength earned through the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, depending on the word of God and with each other to drive our zeal and purpose.

This is all about the raw power and strength that comes from God that carries and sustains us individually and as a body. This power is found solely in the presence of the Lord, which means as 1 Chronicles 16:11 says, we ought to seek the Lord and His strength; yearn for and seek His face and to be in His presence continually!

This tells us that as believers and the body of Christ, we must search for God’s strength through Him to do His will and not look for strength anywhere else.

We must be desperate, as the world gets darker, to stand, operate, and live on the strength of God. Right now, everything in creation is sapping our strength and leaving us too weak to do kingdom business.

The fullness of joy is found in God’s presence and through a relationship with Jesus Christ!

Joy is a positive human condition. It can be either feeling or action. The Bible uses “joy” in both senses and grows in degrees and measure, depending on where one is operating from.

True complete joy comes not from circumstances but from being near to God. David, the psalmist, expresses that God is his chosen portion, inheritance, and counsellor, and that all satisfaction and lasting happiness are found in Him.

Jesus also speaks about fullness of joy in John 15:11 saying, "These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.”

Jesus promises us here that joy is deep, complete, and not dependent on external situations, but rooted in abiding in Him and following His teachings, while Galatians 5:22-23 teaches that joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit, meaning it is a gift that grows in believers as they live in alignment with God. Even in trials, this joy can be present and overflowing, outweighing other emotions and leading to love and generosity toward others.

The fullness of joy is only found by abiding in the Lord. The context of John 15 is about abiding in Jesus—remaining connected to Him through love, obedience, and dependence. Complete joy comes from this ongoing relationship, not from external achievements or pleasures.

And this fullness of joy is Jesus’ joy that is described as something that can be shared with His followers, making their joy complete. This joy is resilient and transformative, able to outweigh sorrow and overflow in love and gratitude.

Life throws us curves when we least expect it, but when that happens, we are guaranteed to sail through relying on the Lord’s strength as Nehemiah 8:10 declares, encouraging us to allow the joy of the Lord to be our strength through whatever we’re going through. The fullness of joy is to rejoice, as the Lord commands, a means both of increasing our bodily strength and inward strength.

The joy which has the Lord as its object, and comes from Him, is the cause of renewing spiritual strength, to run and not be weary, walk and not faint, in the ways of God.

PRAYER: Thank you, Lord, for the strength that has carried me this far. Father, grace me to earnestly seek Your presence and strength always, in Jesus’ name, amen.
