CHILD FRIENDLY SHED THOSE WEIGHTS
Hebrews 12:1-2 GNT
As for us, we have this large crowd of witnesses around us. So then, let us rid ourselves of everything that gets in the way, and of the sin which holds on to us so tightly, and let us run with determination the race that lies before us. [2] Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, on whom our faith depends from beginning to end. He did not give up because of the cross! On the contrary, because of the joy that was waiting for him, he thought nothing of the disgrace of dying on the cross, and he is now seated at the right side of God's throne.
Did you know the
Bible talks about shedding weight? Not just body weight, but things that slow
us down in following Jesus!
Hebrews 12:1 says we should throw off everything that stops us from running the
race for God. These weights can be bad habits, wrong attitudes, or even things
that take too much of our time.
Example: If you spend all your time playing games and forget to pray, that’s a
weight! If you get angry easily or tell lies, those are weights too.
Just like athletes train and eat healthy to stay fit, we need spiritual
exercise—prayer, reading the Bible, and obeying God—to stay strong.
God wants us to run the race with joy and finish well. So, let’s shed those
weights and keep our eyes on Jesus!
Practical Tips for Kids:
- Pray every day and ask God to help you drop bad habits.
- Read your Bible and learn what pleases God.
- Choose friends and activities that help you grow closer to Jesus.
MEMORY VERSE
Hebrews 12:1 – ‘Let
us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And
let us run with perseverance, the race marked out for us.’
