PIDGIN THE LAW OF PRIORITY!

2 Timothy 4:1–8

I dey tell yu wetin to do for God and Jesus Christ present. Wen Christ go appear to make en kingdom stand, e go judge pipol wey dey alive and doz wey don die. 2Make yu dey prish God word and dey ready, weda di time dey okay or not. Make yu use patient take korrect and enkourage yor pipol with betta tishing. 3Bikos time dey kom wen pipol nor go won hear good and betta tishing again. Instead, dem go dey follow wetin dey hongry dem to do kon dey find tisha wey go tish dem wetin dem won hear. 4Dem go rijet di trut and love lie-lie story. 5But make yu kontrol yorsef for evritin. Nor fear to sofa for Christ. Dey do God work and dey tell odas about di Good News.

6For mi, I don already use my life as ofrin for God work, bikos di time wey I go die, don near. 7I don fight di good fight for di faith wey I get; I don run di race finish; I don do wetin I promise sey I go do. 8Naw, di prize for raitiousness dey wait mi and na God wey dey judge rite go give mi dis prize for di day wen Christ go kom. Di prize nor bi for mi alone, but na for evribody wey dey wait for Christ to

The law of priority na the spiritual principle wey talk say wetin you put first go shape everything for your life. Bible don show again say the order wey you set things go determine the result wey you get. We see this clearly for Paul final message to Timothy. Paul dey write from prison for Rome, he know say him time for this world don nearly finish. But instead of fear or regret, him mind dey focused on the gospel, the next generation, and finishing him calling well. Him words show wetin e mean to live with divine order — putting God’s purpose above comfort, convenience, or personal ambition.

Paul start with serious charge: “I charge you before God and Christ Jesus… preach the word; dey ready in and out of season.” Priority dey start with clarity. Timothy no suppose guess wetin important pass. Paul put God Word for number one. For this world wey full of changing ideas, false teachings, and pressure from culture, Timothy first work na to plant himself and others inside truth. This point back to Jesus teaching for Matthew 6:33: “Seek first the kingdom of God and Him righteousness.” When God Word dey first, every other thing go fall for correct place.

Paul warn say time go come when people no go wan hear correct doctrine again. This one remind us say priority no be by chance; na deliberate choice. If discipline no dey, person go easily drift. People naturally dey follow wetin sweet dem, not wetin true. The law of priority require focus — “keep your head in all situations.” Timothy must let God assignment shape am, not the people or crowd demands. This be like Joshua 24:15 wey say, “Choose this day who you go serve.” Priority na daily decision.

Paul also talk about endurance: “Endure hardship, do the work of evangelist, fulfil your ministry.” True priority no dey show for comfort but for consistency. Anybody fit dey faithful when things easy, but the person wey truly put God first go still dey steady through hardship, opposition, and uncertainty. Paul himself be example — dem beat am, imprison am, misunderstand am, but he no give up. Him life resemble Jesus wey “set His face toward Jerusalem” for Luke 9:51, choosing the cross more than comfort.

Later, Paul shift from instruction go reflection: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” These words na from man wey live with holy order. He fight the right battles — not small small quarrels, but the big spiritual ones. He run the race wey God mark for him — no be another person race. He keep the faith — not only to believe but to protect, live, and pass am on. Priority dey produce legacy. When you put God first, your life go turn testimony wey go outlive you.

Finally, Paul look forward say: “Beta crown dey wait for me — di crown wey God go give person we run di race well and stand gidigba for Him ” verse 8. Priority always dey bring reward. God dey honour those wey honour Him (1 Samuel 2:30). The crown no be for Paul alone but for “all wey love Him appearing.” Meaning, people wey dey live with eternity for mind. When eternity na your priority, this world distraction no go move you. You go serve with joy, give freely, endure with hope, and finish with confidence.

Bible examples confirm this law. Abraham put obedience before understanding when he leave him land for Genesis 12:1–4. Daniel choose prayer before political safety for Daniel 6:10. Jesus show perfect priority for John 4:34 when He say, “My food na to do the will of Him wey send Me.” All these lives show say when God dey first, everything else go align with His plan.

The law of priority no be about to do plenty things, but to arrange life well. E no be about perfection but direction. Na daily choice to put God Word, God will, and God assignment above every other voice wey dey drag your attention. Like Paul, make we live so that when our race finish, we go fit say with confidence, “I have finished well.”
