CHILD-FRIENDLY NEW AND IMPROVED!

2 Corinthians 5:17 GNT

Anyone who is joined to Christ is a new being; the old is gone, the new has come.

 

There is a phrase we see on toys, snacks, and gadgets: “New and Improved.” It means something has been made better. But nothing on earth can compare to the way God makes a person new when they give their life to Jesus. When heaven says someone is “new and improved,” it is not pretend — it is real, powerful, and forever.

A new position, improved by process. The moment we accept Jesus, God makes us new on the inside. 

• Our sins are forgiven (Colossians 1:14) 

• Our names are written in heaven (Luke 10:20) 

• We become part of God’s family (Romans 8:15)

This happens instantly. But God keeps improving us as we grow. He changes how we think (Romans 12:2), gives us a new heart (Ezekiel 36:26), and keeps working in us every day (Philippians 1:6).

When God makes us new, He gives us a new identity. Peter was called “Rock” long before he acted like one. He made mistakes, but Jesus kept shaping him until he became strong and bold. God does the same with us.

New and improved means improved desires and discernment. When we follow Jesus, we start wanting good things: 

• To do what is right 

• To be close to God 

• To make Him happy 

But we also need wisdom. Samson had a calling but made unwise choices. Joseph had both desire and wisdom, and God lifted him up.

God gives us dreams and purpose, but obedience helps us grow into them — just like Abraham.

This then leads to new hope, which improved strength. As James 1:2-4 declares trials help us grow stronger. Gold is new when found but improved when refined. We are the same.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

·       Where do I still act like the “old me”? 

·       What is God improving in me right now? 

·       How can I obey God better this week?

PRAYER: Father, thank You for making me new and helping me grow. Remove the old things in me and strengthen the new. Help me obey You, choose wisely, and become who You want me to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
