PIDGIN STAY FOR THE BOAT!
Matthew 8:23-27 “ As Jesus enter di boat, en disciples kon follow am. 24 At wons, strong breeze kon dey blow for di sea and wave won sink di boat. But Jesus Christ dey sleep. 25 So en disciples wake am kon sey, “Oga God, save us! Na die wi dey so o-o!”
26 Jesus ansa dem, “Una
faith small o-o. Wetin make una dey fear?” Den e get up, kommand di breeze and
di wave sey, make dem stop and evriwhere kon kwayet at wons.
27 Di men sopraiz well-well
kon dey ask each oda, “Wish kind man bi dis sef? Even breeze and wave dey obey
am!”
Small boat, big storm, and
Jesus dey sleep! E no look good at all, abi?
This one fit look like bad
movie scene, but thank God say na Christian life be this — na recipe for
miracle. Plenty of us know from experience say the waters of life no dey always
calm; things and life fit turn stormy sharp-sharp without warning.
You dey go through hard time
and season now? You wan shout like the disciples for that wave-torn boat: “God,
you no care about me at all? How Jesus fit dey sleep for this kind time? E no
know say I dey trouble and need am? Why e no do something to help?” The One wey
get answer dey inside the boat with you, dey sleep, relax — He don cover
you!
We no dey use boat too much
today, but your heart, spirit, and life fit be boat for the Lord. You be
carrier of grace and therefore carrier of Christ wey dey live inside you richly
according to Colossians 3:13.
You dey feel say your life
be like that small boat for storm? Like say wave dey toss you up and down,
almost to capsize any moment. Where Jesus dey? Why Him go leave me to suffer
like this? He dey with you and always dey in control. According to Job 9:8, sea
no fit stop Christ from reaching you. If He fit walk on water and calm the sea,
He fit stop the waves.
The trials and struggles we
dey face get way of making us desperate for help, for relief, and finally for
God.
We want make Jesus take all of
dem comot.
We want make Jesus calm the
storm.
But sometimes, like those
disciples for that wave-battered boat, we dey miss the comfort wey dey right
there with us all along, while we dey look elsewhere for comfort and
relief. #
The One wey speak to storm,
waves, and seas dey inside your boat, inside your heart, your life, and your
spirit. He even dey sleep — so why panic? He don calm the sea before; He fit
and He go do am again because the waters know am according to Psalm 77:16.
If you remain for the boat
where He dey, you no go sink or drown. Stay for the boat where the Lord
dey.
Na normal thing to fear,
vex, or to feel abandoned when life storm come. We forget, like the disciples
forget, say God dey with us. God dey inside the boat of life. Nothing
impossible to Him. Nothing dey outside Him control.
Instead of panic, we just
need to curl up beside Jesus, hold am tight, and ride out the storm. Jesus dey
sleep for your boat? Go hold am. Na the safest place you go ever find for the
eye of the storm.
When everything for life
scatter, we go find say faithful and caring people dey around us wey go carry
us and hold us until the storm pass. When one storm dey rage, dem go stand
beside you — dem fit be just as powerless as you now, but their presence go make
all the difference for our world.
Learn to stay for the boat,
with strong assurance say the Lord dey with you for the boat, and He no go
allow harm reach you. He go see you through.
REFLECTION QUESTION
· Where
for my life I dey feel say I dey inside storm, and how I dey respond to Jesus
presence for that situation?
· I
don dey ask God make He calm the storm, while I dey overlook the comfort of
just knowing say He dey with me for the boat?
· Wetin
e go look like if I intentionally “stay for the boat” and trust Jesus more
deeply instead of panic or try take control?
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, thank
You for being with me for the boat, even when storm dey rage and fear dey try
take over my heart. Help me recognise Your presence and trust say You dey
always in control, even when e feel like say You dey silent. Teach me to stay
close to You, to hold You with faith, and to rest for the assurance say You go
carry me safely through every storm. I choose to remain for the boat with You
and to walk in peace, confidence, and complete trust for Your word, in Jesus’
mighty name, Amen.
