PIDGIN OCCUPY TILL I COME!

Luke 19:11–26

“As Jesus dey waka near Jerusalem, e kon tell di pipol one parabol to show sey God Kingdom nor go just kom like dat. 12 Jesus kon sey, “One big man travel go one far kountry where dem for won make am king and afta, e kom back. 13 Before e go, e koll ten of en savant kon give each one money sey, ‘Make una take dis money trade and make profit till I kom back.’

14 “But e own pipol nor like am, so dem kon send message follow am sey, ‘Wi nor wont dis man to bi awa king!’

15 “Wen e kom back afta e don get di kingdom, e kon koll en savants wey e give money make e for know how mush dem don gain.

16 “So di first one stand for en front sey, ‘Oga God, I don gain ten koins join di ones wey yu give mi.’

17 “Di oga kon tell am, ‘Yu do well, yu bi good savant! Bikos yu dey faithful with small tin, I go make yu oga ova ten towns.’

18 “Den di sekond one sey, ‘Oga God, I don gain five koins join di ones wey yu give mi.’

19 “So di oga tell am, ‘Yu go bi oga for five towns.’

20 “Den anoda savant kon sey, ‘Oga God, si di money wey yu give mi. I keep am inside klot. 21 Bikos I dey fear and know sey yu hash well-well. Yu dey chop food wey nor bi yor own and yu dey plok fruit wey yu nor plant!’

22 “Di oga kon tell am, ‘Na yor word I go take judge yu, yu wiked savant! So yu know sey, I bi hash man; dey chop food wey nor bi my own and I dey plok fruit wey I nor plant? 23 Den why yu nor put my money for bank, so dat wen I kom, I go kollect am with intrest wey go dey on-top?’

24 “Den di oga tell di oda savants, ‘Make una take di money from am, gi-am to di savant wey get ten.’

25 “Dem ansa, ‘Oga God, di man don already get ten!’

26 “Di oga kon sey, ‘I tell una, anybody wey get, God go gi-am more, but di pesin wey nor get, even di small one wey e get, God go take am from am. 27 But doz my enemy wey nor wont make I bi dia king, make una go bring and kill dem for my front!’

Every believer get calling. We dey talk say we dey work for God, serve Him kingdom, and dey wait for Christ return—but true question be: we dey really do wetin He send us do? When Jesus talk say “occupy till I come,” e no be soft instruction. Na clear command wey carry responsibility, urgency, and accountability.

To occupy mean make you stay engaged, dey busy, and dey do business with purpose. E mean make you manage well the things God don put for your hand—your gifts, talents, skills, time, influence, and opportunities—and use dem intentional to move God kingdom forward. Christ no save us make we sit down do nothing; He save us make we serve faithfully.

Jesus give Him disciples instruction make dem occupy till He return. That instruction show say delay go dey, responsibility go dey, and expectation dey. E mean say we must live with readiness and diligence. Kingdom no dey move by people wey just dey watch; e dey advance by stewards wey dey actively do God work.

So the question be: You dey occupy? And how we dey occupy?

God call us make we live for this world while we dey do kingdom business. We no suppose waste, bury, ignore, or misuse wetin God give us. Everything wey God put for our care belong to Am, and we go answer how we manage am. To occupy na stewardship with purpose.

There get three important sides to occupying:

Occupy wetin?

Occupy why?

Occupy how?

Disciples fit ask similar questions for Acts 1:4–5 when Jesus tell dem make dem wait. He no tell dem how long dem go wait, wetin exactly dem go do while waiting, or wetin go happen at the end. But dem obey. Dem wait. Dem trust God. Obedience without full explanation na sign of maturity.

Today society no really like obedience without clarity. We want timetable, guarantee, and full explanation. But many times God dey call us make we dey faithful before full understanding. Waiting no mean say make you idle; e mean make you stay aligned and responsive to God instruction.

God expect say we go do business with wetin He give us. This include taking spiritual responsibility, making kingdom-focused decisions, using wisdom, and staying productive. Simply, take wetin you get and use am work for God. Stay engaged for the assignment wey God give you.

If business no dey grow, e dey stagnant. Same thing for spiritual life. Christian wey no dey progress, learn, serve, or bear fruit dey risk stagnation. Growth show life, fruit show faithful occupation.

Occupy till Jesus come no mean say make we live anyhow while we dey wait for rapture. E mean make we give priority to kingdom work with urgency and focus. Jesus return suppose make us active, no be passive. E suppose push us make we work hard, give sacrificially, and serve with whole heart.

For parable of ten minas, Jesus show say accountability sure pass sure. One servant hide wetin him get because fear catch am—not rebellion. But master rebuke am strong: “Why you no put my money for bank make I collect am with interest when I come?” Fear of failure no be excuse for disobedience. God dey look for faithfulness, no be perfection.

From this parable, we see two kinds of believers: dose wey dey occupy with God work and wey no do. Difference no be gift; na faithfulness.

So ask yourself: You dey use every opportunity take witness for Christ?

You dey faithful with God blessings, time, and resources?

You dey serve God with your whole heart or you dey hold back?

You dey invest wetin He give you—or you dey bury am?

Until Jesus return, God call us make we serve willingly and obediently, anywhere and anyhow He send us. We suppose witness to the world, warn people with love about coming judgment, and share God love and salvation plan with joy. We suppose encourage and strengthen other believers make we move kingdom forward together.

Jesus don put power and authority for our hand—not for comfort, but for kingdom purpose. One day, we go give account. Our reward go depend on how faithfully we occupy while we dey wait. So, occupy—till Jesus come.
