LOOK AGAIN!
1 Kings 18:41-46 NLT
Then Elijah said to Ahab, “Go get something to eat and drink, for I hear a mighty rainstorm coming!”
[42] So Ahab went to eat and drink. But Elijah climbed to the top of Mount Carmel and bowed low to the ground and prayed with his face between his knees.
[43] Then he said to his servant, “Go and look out toward the sea.” The servant went and looked, then returned to Elijah and said, “I didn’t see anything.” Seven times Elijah told him to go and look.
[44] Finally the seventh time, his servant told him, “I saw a little cloud about the size of a man’s hand rising from the sea.” Then Elijah shouted, “Hurry to Ahab and tell him, ‘Climb into your chariot and go back home. If you don’t hurry, the rain will stop you!’”
[45] And soon the sky was black with clouds. A heavy wind brought a terrific rainstorm, and Ahab left quickly for Jezreel. [46] Then the LORD gave special strength to Elijah. He tucked his cloak into his belt and ran ahead of Ahab’s chariot all the way to the entrance of Jezreel.
Everything in life deserves a second look but most requires several looks before we can see what needs to be seen.
Look Again! Sometimes we need to take a second look to see something that was missed at first glance. Is there something you’ve given up on, or something that doesn’t look like it would still happen?
You think time’s going with none of God’s promises to you still not in sight.
Has it been so long that you feel like you’ve missed too many opportunities? And have stopped looking in expectations?
I want to remind you not to give up! It will still happen, just look again.
Whatever God starts in your life, will always be completed says Philippians 1:6.
You can’t give up! God is about to wake up what you thought was dead.
God is still going to do what He promised! Just look again and keep looking, it won’t be long!
Elijah called for drought and famine on Israel to show God’s power to Ahab. After three years of famine, God sent Elijah to tell Ahab it was going to rain. Elijah said he heard "the sound of abundance of rain" in verse forty-one. He then told Ahab to get ready because there was going to be a downpour.
The Lord is telling you too to look again and keep looking because there’s going to be a downpour and outpour of blessings, favour, miracles, healing, promotion and many more goodies reserved for those who fear Him and are expectant.
Have you tried and failed? God says, “Get up and try again!”
Have you prayed and received no answer? God says, “Get up and pray again!”
Have you believed in a miracle before and lost hope because nothing happened? God says, “Get up and believe a second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh time! Keep going, seven is the number of completion and perfection! It may look like "there’s nothing happening,” but look again!
Are you currently in an unusual or facing difficult circumstances? Jonah certainly felt that way in the belly of the whale, yet God was using those circumstances to get his attention. No matter how desperate or hopeless your situation, no matter how far away God seems to you now, know that God hears your prayer and will help you.
Jonah, in such a wretched condition that he says, “I am cast out of Your sight,” and yet, despite this, he declares, “Yet I will look again toward your holy temple. Jonah 2:4.
Although Elijah was told explicitly by the Holy Spirit that there will be rain in Verse one, there was no sign of the promised and expected rain. He had heard it but had not yet seen it. But by faith, he said, “Get up, because I hear it!” There is something different this time…now it wasn’t rain, but “a little cloud about the size of a man’s hand.”
Look again, there is something on the horizon-a cloud about the size of a man’s hand, your miracle is still on the way-arise and look again.
Elijah put his face between his knees—a posture of earnest supplication, the prophet, far from resting, was absorbed in prayer for the fulfilment of the promise of God made in verse one.
Don’t give up now because you don’t see it yet, Get Up, with faith, and look again!
Are you expecting a miracle?
Are you expecting provisions?
Are you expecting revival?
Are you expecting blessings?
Get Up…look again.
Look again and again until the manifestation of the word.
PRAYER: Lord, help me faith and expectation to match your word and help keep looking to you until I see the rain in Jesus’ name, amen.
