THE BRAND

Yet it was because of this that God raised him up to the heights of heaven and gave him a name which is above every other name, [10] that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow in heaven and on earth and under the earth, [11] and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.


Brand, brand, brand! Gucci! Armani! DKNY! CK! M&S, Next, Ikea, Asda, and many other brands we all know, like, and use. For many people, the more popular and expensive the brand, the better it is to show off.

Brands! So many people display their brands like a red flag to a bull, drawing attention to either their wealth or their lack of sense and priority of value, without the slightest knowledge of what that brand stands for. Brands are worn as showpieces that pander to pride: “Look at me, I’m wearing an expensive designer…” Sometimes, sadly, we can’t afford these brands, but we purchase and use them anyway to look cool and belong.

I see believers proudly wear brands that no sane person should associate with, to show off their standing, value, and wealth. They will recommend these brands to everyone they encounter but will never advertise JESUS.

Jesus is the incomparable brand that everyone must have. As a result of Jesus Christ’s self-emptying and self-humiliation, God exalted Him to the highest place of honour. Jesus, who stooped down low, was raised by the Father to His glorious position in heaven. The name that is above all names is the supreme name—the divine name Lord. This name acknowledges Jesus Christ’s absolute lordship as divine King of the universe, and it brings with it the right to be worshiped.

All other names, including designer brands, will bow to Jesus’ name. Unfortunately, many Christians handling the Jesus brand have opted to use the brand indiscriminately, like their personally manufactured brand.

Jesus, according to Ephesians 1:21, is the only brand that is far, far above any other brand. His honour is far more glorious than that of anyone else, either in this world or in the world to come.

We ask or get asked, “What or who are you wearing?”—whether clothes, perfumes, or accessories—but no one ever asks or says they are wearing Jesus. It’s always top brands that people mention they are wearing.

What’s your brand? What are you doing to advertise and make your brand known?

The Jesus brand is not what we merely wear, like some physical object expressing our faith, such as a cross, a verse sticker, or an item of clothing. The Jesus brand is and must be everything—total and complete.

Every other name, brand, and power will fade away and bow to the ultimate and only brand—Jesus. Paul said, “At the name of Jesus every knee will bow—in heaven and on earth and under the earth,” emphasizing that every creature in the universe will acknowledge Jesus as Lord over all creation. Every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, Lord over every other brand.

Jesus created other brands within His brand in Ephesians 4:11 for us believers to best make Him and the kingdom of God famous. Sadly, many have contaminated His brand, appropriated the brand as theirs to do as they please, while some are raking in money from selling the Jesus brand for personal gain.

Earthly brands will tarnish, fade, go bankrupt, and be affected by economics, politics, weather, and more, but the Jesus brand will never be affected by any earthly circumstance. Jesus has the name above all names because Jesus Christ is Lord! This name, given to Him by the Father, affirms His divinity and supreme authority over all things and brands.

Displaying our chosen brand is great if it impacts humanity and destinies. Apart from the Jesus brand, there is no other brand that is life-giving and transforming with eternal value.

PRAYER: thank you, Lord for giving me a high value brand that can destroy all things, may I continually proclaim Jesus, the highest brand. Amen
