GOD KNOWS WHAT TO DO!

John 6:1-6 TLB

After this, Jesus crossed over the Sea of Galilee, also known as the Sea of Tiberias. [2-5] And a huge crowd, many of them pilgrims on their way to Jerusalem for the annual Passover celebration, were following him wherever he went, to watch him heal the sick. So when Jesus went up into the hills and sat down with his disciples around him, he soon saw a great multitude of people climbing the hill, looking for him. Turning to Philip he asked, "Philip, where can we buy bread to feed all these people?" [6] (He was testing Philip, for he already knew what he was going to do.)

God always knows what to do, when to do it, and how to do it. He is the "how" in every situation. The sooner we understand that the Lord is never confused about what to do, the easier it becomes for us to face whatever comes our way. He always knows what, when, how, and why to do anything He does or what we ask Him to do for us.

Isaiah 46:10 says God knows the end from the beginning, which means He always knows what He will do in every situation before they occur and within their timeframe. Many of us are reluctant to take matters to the Lord because we sometimes think He’s unable to help us or wouldn’t know what to do. That, unfortunately, is the voice of the enemy, trying to stop us from receiving from the Lord what has already been planned and prepared for us.

Jesus already knew what was needed in this situation and precisely what to do, but He said this to test Philip’s faith and to see whether he and the other apostles had paid proper attention to the miracles they had already seen Him perform. This was to draw their attention more particularly to the one He was about to perform.

Proving, testing, and evaluation are needed in the selection of leaders. Jesus was no different, and as is the Lord, we must be proved, tested, and evaluated if we are working in the Lord’s vineyard, to ensure that we’re responsible and mature enough for the office.

1 Timothy 3:10 (MOFF) states: "They too must be put on probation; after that, if they are above reproach, they can serve as deacons." This means that no man should be put into an office in the Church until he has given full proof of his sincerity and steadiness by having been a consistent private member of the Church for a considerable time.

God knows and wants us to know what we give priority to. For the apostles, was their attention given to the loaves and fish or to the greatness of the God they now follow? Through these experiences, they would learn directly from the Master that God is great enough to meet the needs of anyone, whether a large or small group. This would most likely have given them confidence in following Him and trusting in His ability to meet their needs.

The Lord may set us a seemingly impossible task to see if we will act out of faith or fear. As James 1:2-4 puts it, this is a training ground that will push us to trust in Him more and expect that He can do beyond what we can see and do. The Lord can accomplish much more than we can on our own, but occasionally, He will ask us what we think or want Him to do, just to get us to participate in the process and the miracles.

Are you facing an issue right now and wondering why the Lord is not moving on your case? Look inward to hear what He’s saying to you and asking you to do. He knows exactly what to do regarding that marriage, child, sickness, or whatever else you’re going through. He knows and will do it in His time beautifully, according to Ecclesiastes 3:11, without any help from you. Let’s face it, whatever God allows to come our way is predestined according to Isaiah 25:1, and if it becomes too much for us for whatever reason, the Lord will give us an escape clause according to 1 Corinthians 10:13.

He knows what He’ll do regarding that matter you entrusted to Him. He will not let you down. He may ask you questions but remain confident that He’s not confused. He knows what to do.

PRAYER: Lord, I am grateful that you’re not confused about what’s happening in my life, thank you for always knowing what to do for me and when to do. I praise you in Jesus’ name, amen.
