SHARING IS CARING AND FUN!
1 Timothy 6:18 TLB
Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and should give happily to those in need, always being ready to share with others whatever God has given them.
From a biblical perspective, the concept of "sharing is caring" aligns closely with the teachings of love, generosity, and community. Sharing is something we must all learn to do and like. Sharing brings us joy. We must all have been taught about sharing whatever we have with others, and we must learn to share anything and everything within reason.
It is very important for us to share, and I bet we all have something to share. Sharing is not only an act of caring but also a way to live out the principles of love, generosity, and community. It brings joy and strengthens the bonds within a community.
There are a few biblical examples of sharing that we can emulate:
The Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37): Jesus tells the parable of the Good Samaritan, where a man is beaten and left for dead. While others pass by, a Samaritan stops to help him. He shares his time, resources, and care, demonstrating compassion and generosity.
Feeding the 5,000 (John 6:1-14): Jesus performs the miracle of feeding 5,000 people with just five loaves of bread and two fish, only because a young boy dared to share his small meal. Jesus multiplies it to feed the entire crowd, showing the power of sharing even the smallest of resources.
The Widow's Offering (Mark 12:41-44): Jesus observes a poor widow who puts two small coins into the temple treasury. Despite her poverty, she was willing to give all she had, illustrating the value of sacrificial giving and sharing from the heart.
Barnabas (Acts 4:36-37): Barnabas sells a field he owns and brings the money to the apostles to help those in need. His act of generosity supports the early Christian community and sets an example of selfless sharing.
We can share anything—physical, material, and emotional. We can share a smile just as much as a hug. We share what we have not necessarily because we have an abundance of it but because it’s fun to share things with those we love and those who need what we’re sharing, as instructed in Romans 12:13.
We can share our time by volunteering at a local shelter, helping a neighbour with groceries, or simply offering a kind word to someone who is struggling. The Samaritan’s story encourages us to help those in need, regardless of their background or circumstances.
Jesus fed the hungry, and we too can do the same. Even small acts of sharing can have a big impact. Donating small amounts of money or food to a charity, participating in community food drives, or sharing our skills and knowledge with others can make a significant difference and bring people and communities together in fun and joy as well.
Sharing can sometimes be sacrificial, as we see with the widow’s offering. This might mean donating to causes we care about, even if we don't have much to give, or offering our time and energy to support others.
We can and should share valuable information with interested and affected people when we are sure of our information and the source. The Christian faith is all about sharing, as described in Acts 4:32-37. Sharing our stories of salvation and generosity may inspire others to take similar actions.
“I cannot even imagine where I would be today were it not for that handful of friends who have given me a heart full of joy. Let’s face it, friends make life a lot more fun.” — Chuck Swindoll.
Hebrews 13:16 instructs us to “do not neglect to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”
Sharing is special! Sharing is fun! Sharing is caring! So, share! Share joyfully!
PRAYER: Dear Lord, thank you for providing me with seed and bread, grant me the grace to joyfully share whatever I can in Jesus’ name, amen.
