OBEDIENCE IS ACCESS

Deuteronomy 28:1–2 “If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all His commands... all these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God."

Obedience means listening to God’s Word and doing what He says regardless of who you are, what you’re facing and doing.  It is not just hearing but acting as James 1:22 puts it.

Obedience matters to the Lord, it His love-language. Why Obedience Matters.

Obedience opens the door according to Isaiah 1:19 saying "If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good things of the land." Obedience gives access to abundance. and provision.

John 14:23 says “Anyone who loves Me will obey My teaching. My Father will love them, and We will come to them and make Our home with them." Your obedience of the word opens the door to God’s presence and intimacy.

The full text of Deuteronomy 28 is of blessings or none from obedience and disobedience. God’s Blessings are clearly laid out there.

Total obedience gets us answered prayers according to 1 John 3:22.

Obedience is the doorway that gives a believer access to what God has already prepared—His promises, His presence, and His power. Obedience does not buy God’s favour, but it positions us to walk in what grace has provided.

Obedience gives access to God’s guidance: “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths” shows that surrendered obedience opens the way for divine direction as instructed in Proverbs 3:5.

In Genesis 12:1–2 – God tells Abraham, “Get thee out of thy country…” and attaches a promise: “I will make of thee a great nation.” His obedience gives him access to the journey of faith and covenant.

After obeying with Isaac in Genesis 22:16-18, God says, “Because thou hast done this thing… in blessing I will bless thee… and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.”

Access to blessing and protection: Israel is repeatedly told that obedience would bring blessing in the land, while disobedience would shut them out of what God intended for them.

Obedience gives access to deeper friendship with God as John 14:21 says, “He that hath my commandments, and keeps them, he it is that loveth me… and I will love him and will manifest myself to him.” Obedience opens a dimension where Jesus’ “manifests” Himself and calls us friends.

Obedience is not about earning; it is about aligning. When we obey, we step into the flow of what God already wants to do.

·        Obedience gives access to:

·        Direction (like Abraham)

·        Inheritance (like Israel in the land)

·        Miracles and calling (like Peter)

·        Healing and restoration (like Naaman)

·        Salvation and sonship (through Christ’s obedience)

Disobedience can likewise block access. Israel’s disobedience led to wandering in the wilderness seen in Numbers 14:22–23.

Disobedience cost Saul his kingdom because of partial obedience according to 1 Samuel 15:22–23.

When we obey the Lord, we unlock access to God’s promises. Without obedience, the door remains closed. To make it easier to obey we must know God’s Word according to Psalm 119:105. We must trust God’s plan as stated in Proverbs 3:5–6. Obediently submit to His will according to Luke 22:42 and stay in fellowship instructs Hebrews 10:25.

“Obedience opens doors that prayer alone keeps knocking on. When we obey God, we don’t make Him more powerful—we simply give Him more room to move in us and through us.”
