CHILD-FRIENDLY BARRIERS TO FAITH!

Hebrews 11:6 GNT

No one can please God without faith, for whoever comes to God must have faith that God exists and rewards those who seek him.

 

Faith is very important in the Christian life. The Bible says we cannot please God without faith. But sometimes, things inside our hearts make it hard to trust God. These “barriers” can be unbelief, fear, pride, shame, or thinking too much instead of trusting God.

One big barrier is unbelief. In Numbers 13–14, God promised Israel the Promised Land. But when they heard about the giants, they became scared and said, “We are like grasshoppers.” God never said that — they said it about themselves. Their unbelief stopped them from entering the land.

Another barrier is fear. Fear makes us forget that God is with us. When the disciples were in a storm, they panicked. Jesus asked them why they were afraid. Fear and faith cannot rule our hearts at the same time.

Pride is also a barrier. Pride says, “I can do it myself.” King Saul disobeyed God because he cared more about people’s opinions than God’s instructions. Pride makes it hard to listen to God.

Sometimes the barrier is overthinking. We want to understand everything before we obey. But Abraham obeyed God even when he didn’t know where he was going. Faith means trusting God even when we don’t have all the answers.

Shame can also block faith. Adam and Eve hid from God because they felt ashamed. But God still came looking for them. Shame tells us we are not good enough, but God says there is no condemnation for those in Christ.

The good news is this: God can remove every barrier. When we bring our fears and doubts to Him, He helps our faith grow.
