CHILD-FRIENDLY COMPLIANCE!

Luke 22:42 ICB

"Father, if it is what you want, then let me not have this cup of suffering. But do what you want, not what I want."

Compliance means saying “Yes” to God with a happy heart. It is more than just doing what God says; it is choosing to agree with His plans because we trust that He loves us. Compliance is when we say like Jesus, “Lord, not what I want, but what You want.”

From the beginning, God has always wanted His children to listen to His voice. In Deuteronomy 28:1, God promised that if we obey Him, He will lift us up and bless us. When we follow God’s instructions, we step into the good things He has already prepared for us.

Real compliance starts inside the heart. God does not want us to obey only on the outside while our hearts are far away. In Isaiah 29:13, God said some people honour Him with their words but not with their hearts. True compliance means giving our hearts to God and letting the Holy Spirit guide us.

David understood this. After he made a mistake, he prayed in Psalm 51:10–13 for God to give him a clean heart. When our hearts are right, obeying God becomes easier.

Sometimes people struggle to obey because they are afraid or unsure. But Proverbs 3:5–6 teaches us to trust God completely, and He will show us the right path. Abraham trusted God even when he did not know where he was going (Genesis 12:1–4). His trust helped him obey.

When God gives instructions, it is to help us, not to harm us. Mary told the servants, “Do whatever Jesus tells you” (John 2:5), and a miracle happened. Peter obeyed Jesus in Luke 5:4–6, and he caught many fish.

Obeying God protects our future. Disobedience brings trouble, like in Saul’s story (1 Samuel 15:22–23) and Jonah’s story (Jonah 3:1–10).

Jesus showed perfect obedience, even to death (Philippians 2:8). When we obey God, our lives become fruitful like the tree in Psalm 1:1–3.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

• What part of my life needs more obedience to God?

• What makes it hard for me to obey God quickly?

• How has obedience helped me before?
