CHILD-FRIENDLY THE SPIRIT OF BOLDNESS!

 2 Timothy 1:7 ICB

God did not give us a spirit that makes us afraid. He gave us a spirit of power and love and self-control.

 

The spirit of boldness is a special strength that comes from God. It is not about being loud, brave on your own, or having a strong personality. Boldness is the power the Holy Spirit gives us so we can stand for God without fear, shame, or worry. The Bible says God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.

Where the Holy Spirit is, fear cannot stay. In Acts 4:29, the early believers prayed for boldness, and God filled them with the Holy Spirit. Right away, they spoke God’s Word with courage. This shows that boldness comes from God, not from us.

Boldness starts when we know who we are in Christ. Proverbs 28:1 says the righteous are as bold as a lion. When we know God loves us, forgives us, and stands with us, we become strong inside. David showed this when he faced Goliath in 1 Samuel 17:45–47. He was bold because he trusted God, not his own strength.

God’s Word also gives us courage. In Joshua 1:7–8, God told Joshua to be strong and courageous and to keep His Word in his heart. When God’s Word fills our minds, fear cannot control us. Jeremiah said God’s Word felt like fire in his bones (Jeremiah 20:9), and it made him speak boldly.

Before the Holy Spirit came, Peter was afraid and denied Jesus. But after the Spirit filled him, he preached boldly to thousands (Acts 2:14–41). God changed him from fearful to fearless.

Boldness helps us obey God even when it is hard. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused to bow to an idol (Daniel 3:16–18), and God rescued them.

Boldness is not being rude. It is speaking truth with love, even when it is difficult.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS 

• What things make me feel afraid or shy about standing for God? 

• How can the Holy Spirit help me be bold every day? 

• When have I seen God help me be brave before?

PRAYER: Father, thank You for giving me boldness. Help me not to fear. Fill me with Your Spirit so I can stand strong and follow You with courage. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
