GOD’S PURPOSES HAVE A RIPENESS!

Ephesians 2:10 AMPC

For we are God's [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live].

We were all created for a purpose, and the ultimate purpose is to glorify the Father and be with Him in eternity.

God’s will and purpose are intertwined.

- God’s will is what He desires or intends to happen. It is His divine plan and guidance for individuals and the world. It is a decree He makes after the counsel of His own will, determining what will happen and how, because He takes full responsibility for what He does.

- There is God’s general will, which applies to everyone (e.g., love, justice, kindness, faith), and God’s personal will, which is His specific guidance for each person’s life (e.g., your path, decisions, and calling).

Purpose is the reason something exists or is done. It is often seen as a guiding principle or the deeper meaning behind our actions and lives.

God’s purpose is the reason behind His will — the deeper meaning or goal He has for creation and for each person. Purpose often feels like something discovered rather than chosen.

Simply put:  God’s will is what He wants you to do, and His purpose is why He wants you to do it. To that effect, His purpose is usually part of a process that ripens to maturity in its time. God’s purpose is often:

- To bring glory to Himself,

- To love and serve others,

- To grow us in character and faith,

- To fulfill a unique role in the world.

As clearly stated in **Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope.” No matter what we face or go through, it ultimately turns out for God’s glory — while we gain something, whether physical or spiritual — as affirmed in Romans 8:28. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”

The ripeness of our experiences brings God glory while establishing something lasting in our lives.

The Lord will always accomplish His purpose according to His will alone, as seen in Isaiah 46:10b: “My counsel shall stand, and I will accomplish all my purpose.”

It doesn’t matter how long, how wide, or how deep a situation is — if it aligns with God’s will, His purpose for it will be fulfilled in time.

Isaiah 55:10–11 assures us that no word of God — that is, His will — will ever return void. “So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”

God’s Word is as irresistible and effective as the rain and snow — no force on earth can stop it. His Word never fails to achieve its aim.

“In the fullness of time…” according to Galatians 4:4 — the purpose of God will be manifested through His will, regardless of our current standing. Because, as Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, God’s intent is always for our welfare — a future and a hope.

We make many plans, sometimes without purpose. Yet it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails, as stated in Proverbs 19:21: “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.”

God is absolute in all things — including truth — as 2 Corinthians 13:8 declares: “For we can do nothing against the truth, but only for the truth.”

Every believer is a masterpiece of God— a new creation through union with Christ.

As 2 Corinthians 5:17 says: “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” The purpose of this new creation is found in the phrase: “for good works.”  While we are not saved by good works, we are saved for good works.  Good works are not the root of salvation, but the fruit of it.

We do not work to be saved — we work because we are saved.

The ripeness of our faith through good works is the evidence of God’s saving grace.

PRAYER: Lord of Hosts, thank You for creating and saving me for good works. May all Your purposes for my life come to full ripeness — for Your glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
