OUT OF DARKNESS INTO THE LIGHT (PIDGIN)

Isaiah 9:2 “Pipol wey dey waka for darkness don si lite. Lite dey shine for doz wey dey stay for di land where strong darkness dey.

 

Darkness na state wey no get light, nightfall, secret, and closedness. Darkness fit mean physical, spiritual, and mental blindness, evil, place of punishment, and spiritual term for cast-offs.

Plenty people dey waka for dark—some dey confused, some don lost, others dey indecisive, while many choose to remain for dark, closed off to the love and light of God.

God know the importance of light, na why Bible start with God saying for Genesis 1:3-5, "Make light dey," and light come. God see say the light good, and e separate the light from darkness. But between God setting the light for e place, humanity decide to step back into darkness by sinning against the God of light.

Our text dey refer to people wey dey waka for darkness—those wey dey waka for lies and deception, immorality, unbelief, and doubt, and anybody wey refuse to acknowledge and accept Christ as Lord and Savior, including those wey reject the Holy Spirit. These people still dey refuse the Lord’s invitation and appeal for Isaiah 2:5, wey talk say, “O house of Jacob, come, make we waka for the light of the LORD.”

God dey call us to come out of darkness and step into e marvellous light, but as usual, we dey resist and refuse the Lord’s appeal. You willing to accept God’s invitation to step out of darkness into e light?

The reason why God want make we step out of darkness into the light dey for Isaiah 60:1-3, wey dey tell us to rise and come out of any afflictions wey dey hold us back and down. Rise up and out of mourning and captivity. Make the blind receive sight to see physically and spiritually. Make every closed door open. Make every secret, hidden treasure unveil and reveal.

Stepping out of darkness give us the grace to shine and be enlightened because of the light of God wey dey inside us—the light wey dey impact others. The light of God dey establish the glory of the Lord on us and make clear distinction between those wey belong to the Father.

Nobody go deliberately sit for dark when the pleasure of light dey flicker away. When darkness dey, we go do all we fit to get light there as quickly as we fit. The light of God dey give revelation and insight to the simple, according to Psalm 119:130, and we need simplicity for every darkened area because some of us don dey for dark for too long, and God dey talk say e don time to step out of it and into the light.

Darkness na chain for many, dey hold them down and stop them from moving actively, progressively, and boldly as soldiers of Christ. E be hiding place wey no dey allow our gifts and graces to shine through and be used for kingdom business and na excuses to no follow God wholeheartedly. Darkness na crutch for many wey dey use am to limp between desires while claiming disability, but e don time to step out and step into the light!

God don turn on e searchlight, as Psalm 18:28 talk, make we stop to stumble and grope for dark! God don already deliver us, according to Colossians 1:13. We no dey step out of darkness into nothing, but into well-lit path, on the word of God for direction, according to Psalm 119:105.

PRAYER: Father of light, fill me with the light of life to overshadow every dark area for my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
