PIDGIN THE PERFECT SACRIFICE

John 1:29 “'Wen day break, John si Jesus dey waka kom meet am, den John sey, “Make una look! Dis na di Sheep wey God send kom die, so dat God go forgive us awa sins.”

 

Jesus Christ na the perfect sacrifice! Wetin e really cost us to free from guilt, shame and death? Wetin free us from the bondage of sin? No be silver, no be gold, or any other thing wey fit spoil. The price for our freedom na something wey pass gold and silver - na the precious blood of Jesus Christ.

Blind no fit lead blind. For John 5:1-17, we see as e be when person dey depend on another person wey dey suffer the same wahala or even worse - dem no fit save or deliver anybody. Na why we need person wey no dey our level, person wey better pass us. Sinner no fit save sinner.

For Old Testament, dem dey use animal sacrifice - lamb wey no get any wahala - to take cover sin. But that one na something wey dem dey do every time, e no dey last, e no be once-and-for-all. That sacrifice no perfect!

But Jesus Christ come be the perfect Lamb, the perfect sacrifice. Na so e fit be the perfect Saviour. 1 Peter 2:22 talk say Jesus no get sin at all, so na only Him fit save, deliver and redeem us. Jesus die as our Passover Lamb, exactly on Passover day, the same time dem dey kill the lamb. Dem bury am during the Feast of Unleavened Bread, wey show say e body no get sin, and e rise on the Feast of First Fruits. Na only God fit arrange this kind perfect timing as e dey for prophecy.

Jesus, through im sacrifice, fulfil the meaning of the Passover Lamb. But why na only Jesus fit do this “perfect sacrifice”? Because na God choose am. Acts 4:12 talk say salvation no dey anywhere else, na only Jesus we fit get am. If sacrifice for sin go happen, na Jesus gats do am. Hebrews 10:5-7 talk say Jesus know say na Him gats do God will: “Sacrifice and offering you no want, but you prepare body for me… I come to do your will, O God.”

Jesus gree give Himself as sacrifice, e show say all those animal sacrifice no reach. Na Jesus complete God will for our redemption, e clear all our sins as the perfect sacrifice.

Romans 3:25 talk say God bring Jesus as sacrifice for our sin, through im blood. Hebrews 12:24 talk say Jesus blood dey speak better thing pass animal blood. God do am to show say e dey righteous.

Leviticus 17:11 talk say life dey inside blood, na why God use am for atonement. Animal blood dey cover sin, but Jesus blood wash us clean forever.

Jesus do am for cross. God prepare body for am, to live righteous life wey no get sin - na wetin God really want! Na that kind body Jesus get.

And with three words, Jesus finish am: “It is finished!” Jesus really do and finish wetin God want - to be the “perfect sacrifice for sin.”

PRAYER: Papa God, I thank you say you prepare Jesus body as the perfect sacrifice for my sin, redemption and salvation. In Jesus name, amen.
