PIDGIN PRISON BREAK!

Acts 12:1-11: 'For dat time, King Herod katch some pipol wey dey go church kon sey e go kill dem. E kill James, wey bi John broda, with swod. Wen e si sey di Jew pipol happy with wetin e do, e kon arrest Pita too. (Dis tin happen for di time wey dem dey do di bread wey nor get yist feast.) Wen e don katch Pita put for prison, e put four gangs, wey get four four soldiers each, make dem guide am. Herod plan na to bring Pita out make e judge am for di whole town front wen Passova don finish. So as Pita dey prison, di pipol wey dey di church dey pray to God for am, day and nite. But for di nite before dem go judge am, dem tie Pita with two shains and e sleep for two sojas centre. Oda sojas still dey di prison front, dey guide am. God angel appear and lite kon shine for di prison. Di angel wake Pita kon tell am, “Get up kwik-kwik!” At wons, di shains fall komot from Pita hand. Di angel sey, “Wear yor klot and yor sandal.” So Pita do wetin di angel tell am. Den di angel sey, “Wear yor koat make yu follow mi.” Pita follow am go outside. Even doh e bilive sey wetin dey happen so na true, e tink sey na dream e dey dream. Afta, en and di angel kon pass di first and di sekond sojas group, den dem kon rish di iron gate wey go di town. Di gate open by ensef and dem go outside kon waka pass one small street, den di angel leave am for der. Wen Pita si sey all dis tins wey dey happen nor bi dream, e kon sey, “Naw I know sey, True-true, God send en angel kon save mi from Herod hand and from all di tins wey di Jew pipol tink sey go happen.” 

 

I know say e get TV show wey dey dem call “Prison Break”, but I never watch am before. But make I tell you, the original “prison break” dey Bible.

Even though the word “prison break” no dey Bible, the meaning na say God get power to free people from any kind wahala-whether na physical, spiritual, or emotional prison.

The first real “prison break” for Bible na Peter own for Acts 12:1-19. King Herod put Peter for prison after e don kill some of Jesus disciples. Na so angel of God show, Peter chain fall for ground, and the angel carry am waka comot for prison, pass guards, until Peter reach safety.

Bible full with stories and promise say God dey deliver and give freedom-both for real life and for spirit. This na big part of our Christian faith. E dey remind us say God fit break us free from any “prison” wey we dey, by Him power.

People dey everywhere for world wey dey inside prison like Peter, sometimes no be because dem do bad thing, but because of their faith, belief, or discrimination. Some people dey plan how dem go break comot for that prison-even people wey do wrong. God no create us to dey locked up, but to make we dey free for Christ, as Galatians 5:1 talk.

Some “prison break” fit work, some no go work, dem go even add more years join your sentence. But John 8:36 talk say if Christ free you, you dey truly free.

Paul and Silas for Acts 16:16-40, dem put dem for prison because dem dey preach gospel. As dem dey pray and sing, God send earthquake, open all the prison doors, loose their chains. This miracle no just free dem, e make the jailer and e family give their life to Christ.

Ask yourself: Wetin you dey do wey fit land you for real prison? Or which spiritual, emotional, or mental wahala you dey face like prison for your life?

You fit no dey inside real prison, but if you no dey walk with God, na eternal prison you dey-separate from God. But even like that, God promise freedom for Isaiah 61:1-say Messiah go free the captives and release people wey dey for darkness.

When you face unfair treatment or wahala, remember Joseph for Genesis 37–50. Dem sell am, accuse am for wetin e no do, put am for prison, but Joseph trust God plan. People wey dey face job loss, family wahala, or injustice dey get hope from Joseph story-dem learn to forgive and see God hand inside their matter. This one dey help dem move forward instead of dey bitter.

God get power to break any kind captivity, give hope and freedom to anybody wey trust am.

Bible talk many times say God dey free people from spiritual bondage. Psalm 146:7 talk say, “The Lord dey set prisoners free.” Psalm 118:5 talk say, “For my wahala I call God, and God answer me, set me free.” This na sure testimony say God fit deliver you from any bondage.

No prison dey too strong for God to break you out from. Trust God to deliver you from any prison wey you dey now.

PRAYER: Papa God, thank you for your power to deliver me from sin, addiction, oppression, or any bondage. I thank you for the spiritual freedom wey I get for Christ Jesus. Amen.
