CHANGE YOUR PLAYING FIELD!
Proverbs 13:20 TLB
Be with wise men and become
wise. Be with evil men and become evil.
Sometimes, we need to take
the battle directly to the enemy’s camp. There comes a point in life when we
must either level the playing field or change it entirely, rise higher, and
gain a new perspective—especially when staying in our comfort zone is no longer
working for us.
Consider the eagle: it has
the unique ability to soar to great heights, changing its environment to
achieve its goals. This same ability to shift our ground and rise above
challenges is something God has placed in every believer. By standing on His
word, we can change our playing field and overcome obstacles.
Attitude determines
altitude!
We cannot occupy positions
we are not prepared for, trained for, or have a vision for. In Jeremiah 1:11,
God’s question to the prophet reminds us that what and how we see determines
how far we can go. If our vision is limited, so is our potential for elevation.
Sometimes, the field we are
in is so crowded and saturated that there’s no more room for us to grow, but we
still insist on staying there for personal reasons—even when God is urging us
to move up or move on.
A fool is not recognized as
wise just because he walks with wise people; this is “camouflage”—using others
or circumstances to conceal our own inadequacies. But God did not create us to
feel inadequate. As Philippians 3:13 says, our sufficiency and ability come
from Christ, not from ourselves. We don’t need to pretend to be something we
are not.
The Bible gives us examples,
like in 1 Kings 20:23, where the Arameans realized that changing the
battleground might help them defeat Israel. In the same way, some of us need to
change our environment—whether in our jobs, careers, neighbourhoods, or even
our churches. The common saying is, “If it’s not broken, don’t fix it,” but
what if it’s not working? What do you do then?
Many of us need an attitude
adjustment to reach the altitude God has for us. Until our behaviour,
character, and mindset align with God’s purpose, we can’t access the heights He
intends for us.
Psalm 75:5 warns us not to
exalt our own horn, because promotion, elevation, and true advancement do not
come from our own efforts or from others, but from the Lord alone.
God, in His faithfulness,
will elevate us to the heights He has already prepared for us, once our
character, behaviour, and attitude align with His word, His purpose, and His
will.
Ephesians 4:23 encourages us
to be renewed in the spirit of our minds. If we want to soar high, we must stop
living like chickens—grounded and feeding on scraps—when God has prepared a
feast for us at higher altitudes.
Fear often keeps us
grounded, stopping us from making necessary changes even when we know we
should. If the people around us do not inspire, motivate, or support us, why do
we stay with them? Even with God’s help, we can only go so far if those around
us are pulling us down. We need the kind of people described in 1 Thessalonians
5:11—people who encourage, build up, and strengthen us, combined with faith and
the power of God, so we can soar like the eagle.
The eagle takes its prey out
of its comfort zone to defeat it. Likewise, changing our playing field is vital
for our growth, increase, and promotion. So, it’s time to level up!
PRAYER: Lord of hosts, thank
You that in You there are no limits or barriers. Help me to confidently hold on
to You whenever I face battles, knowing that my field is the Holy Ghost zone.
Empower me to rise above every limitation and soar to the heights You have
destined for me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
