PIDGIN DESPERATE VOICES!
Luke 18:36-43 “As Jesus near Jeriko, one man wey blind sidan for di road korna dey beg. 36Wen e hear plenty pipol dey pass, e kon ask wetin dey happen. 37Dem kon tell am sey Jesus wey kom from Nazaret dey pass.
38So di man kon dey shaut,
“Jesus, David pikin, make yu sorry for mi o-o!”
39So di pipol wey dey en
front kon dey shaut for am make e kwayet, but e kon dey shaut more-more, “David
pikin, make yu sorry for mi o-o!”
40So Jesus stop kon sey make
dem bring di beggar kom meet am. Wen di man kom, Jesus ask am, 41“Wetin yu wont
make I do for yu?”
Di man sey, “Oga God, I won
si again.”
42Jesus kon tell am, “Make
yu si naw, yor faith don heal yu.” 43At wons, di man bigin si and e kon follow
Jesus, dey praiz God. Wen di pipol si wetin happen, dem kon bigin praiz God.
Desperation! If we wan talk
true, this world full with people wey dey desperate. But the wahala be say,
many of us dey cry for the wrong things. Desperation na when person get serious
need or strong desire for something or somebody, and e no easy to get am.
All of us don reach that
point for life wey we dey desperate. Dem dey talk say desperate time dey call
for desperate action, and many times we ready do anything just to get wetin we
want.
But for Bible, desperation
na when person dey hungry and dey seek God with all e heart. No be panic or
fear, but na serious chase and full trust in God, like Psalm 42:1 talk.
Desperation fit make person
do anything just to comot from that condition. You go forget pride, you go
humble yourself just to reach God. But sometimes, people go follow wrong road
because of the pressure, and that road fit lead to destruction like Proverbs
14:12 talk.
Wetin you dey desperate for?
Everybody get one area for
life wey dem dey desperate—spiritual, physical, mental, financial, emotional,
and so on. Sarah too dey desperate for pikin, and instead make she wait for God
promise, she try help God for Genesis 16:2.
Instead make you dey suffer
for outside like say you no get hope (Jesus don already suffer for us outside
the gate—Hebrews 13:12), make your desperation push you to cry to Jesus for
mercy and help.
Wetin dey worry you? Wetin
you dey desperate for?
God know say one day you go
reach that desperate point, na why He talk say make you “come” for Matthew
11:28-30. So why you no use your desperate voice?
Sometimes, people dey look
for help outside God because:
- Dem don wait too long,
- Dem no believe say God go
answer,
- Or dem feel say their
matter too small to disturb God.
But even people wey no know
God before, when dem cry to Him in desperation, God still answer. Like Eliezer
for Genesis 24:12, when he pray make God help am find wife for Isaac—God answer
am.
For Exodus 2:23, the
Israelites cry because of their suffering, and God hear dem.
Desperate people no dey give
up. Like the woman wey dey bleed for 12 years—she push through crowd just to
touch Jesus for Mark 5:25–34.
Blind Bartimaeus too no gree
keep quiet. He don wait long, but when he hear say Jesus dey pass, he shout
loud: “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
And Jesus stop for am. You
too fit cry reach Jesus where you dey.
You desperate reach to cry
to the Master?
Desperation dey knock until
door open.
No let fear, sin, pain, or
ignorance drown your voice.
Let your voice of prayer,
praise, and faith rise until Jesus reach you.
Desperation na full
surrender—“God, I no fit do this without you.”
And God too dey wait make
you call Him.
Come. Cry to Him if you dey
desperate
PRAYER: Lord of mercy and
grace, I dey cry to you. Show me your face, O Lord, and lift me from this
desperate condition in Jesus name, amen.
