Den, yu go know sey God don tok thru mi.”

4Wen King Jeroboam hear dis tin, e point kon sey, “Make una hold dat man!” At wons, di king hand paralaiz and e nor fit strait am again. 5Di altar fall and di ashes kon skata, just as di profet tok with God name.

6King Jeroboam tell di profet, “Abeg! Make yu pray to di Oga yor God for mi sey, ‘Make E heal my hand!’ ” So di profet pray to God and di king hand kon strait again.

7Den di king tell di profet, “Make yu kom chop for my house and I go give yu sometin.”

8Di profet ansa, “Even if yu give mi half of evritin wey yu get, I nor go chop or drink anytin with yu. 9God kommand mi sey, make I nor chop or drink anytin and make I nor go back di wey I take kom here.” 10So, di profet nor follow di road wey e take kom, go back.

Di Old Profet For Bethel

11Dat time, e get one old profet for Bethel. E shidren kom tell am wetin di profet wey kom from Judah do for Bethel and di tins wey e tell King Jeroboam. 12Di old profet ask dem, “Wish road e pass wen e dey go?” En shidren show am di road, 13so e tell dem make dem ready en donkey. Afta dem ready am, di old profet enter kon 14follow and meet di profet wey kom from Judah under one oak tree where e sidan.

Den e ask am, “Na yu bi di profet wey kom from Judah?”

Di profet ansa, “Yes! Na mi.”

15So di old profet tell am, “Make yu kom my house kon follow mi chop.” 16But di profet from Judah ansa, “I nor go fit follow yu go house or chop and drink anytin with yu, 17bikos God don kommand mi sey make I nor chop or drink anytin for here or go back as I take kom.”

18Den di old profet lie gi-am kon sey, “Mi too na profet like yu and God kommand mi thru en angel sey make I kare for yu for my house.” 19So di profet wey kom from Judah follow di old profet go en house go chop.

20As dem sidan for di tabol, God tok thru di old profet 21and e shaut tell di profet wey kom from Judah, “God sey yu don disobey am, bikos yu nor do wetin E kommand, 22but instead, yu kon go back go chop for where E sey make yu nor for chop. Bikos of wetin yu don do so, yu go die and dem nor go beri yu for yor family grave.”

23Afta dem don chop finish, di old profet kon bring di Judah profet donkey kom. 24And as di profet dey go for road, one lion kom out kon kill-am, den di lion and donkey kon stand near en dead body. 25As some pipol dey pass, dem si di dead body for road with di lion wey stand near am. Den dem go Bethel go tok wetin dem si.

26Wen di old profet hear wetin happen, e kon sey, “Dat na di profet wey nor obey wetin God kommand! So God send di lion go kill-am, just as E sey E go do.”

27Den e tell en shidren, “Make una bring my donkey for mi,” Di shidren bring am and 28e kon go si di profet dead body for road and di donkey and di lion still stand near am. Di lion nor chop di body or attack di donkey. 29So di old profet karry di body put for di donkey kon go mourn and beri am for Bethel. 30E beri am for en own family grave, den en and en shidren mourn for am and e kon sey, “Um, my broda, my broda!”

31Afta dem beri am, di profet tell en shidren, “Wen I die, make una beri mi for dis grave where I beri dis profet put, den make una put my bones near en own. 32Bikos all di tins wey God kommand, wey e tok against di altar for Bethel and di place wey dem for dey woship for Samaria town, must happen.”

 

 

Plenty Christians dey today wey dey disobey God just like that man of God for 1 Kings 13, because wetin dem hear, see, feel, or wetin other people tell dem, dey sound better or make more sense pass wetin God talk. Christian life na to obey God, no be just to do plenty work or sacrifice. God dey give every believer special instruction about their calling, ministry, and life, but some of us go ignore am, dey find approval from people, and go end up disobeying God.

Many times, we dey look for direction and approval from people wey we think say sabi pass us or get bigger position, instead of to depend on wetin God don tell us. Disobedience dey bring wahala. God show us for Genesis 3:1-24, especially verse 17, say, “Because you listen to your wife and chop the fruit wey I tell you make you no chop, the ground go dey curse because of you; na with sweat you go chop food for the rest of your life.”

For 1 Kings 13:8-10, God tell the prophet say make e no chop, drink, or collect anything for that land. But for verses 11-19, one old prophet from Bethel come deceive am, say angel tell am make e invite the man of God come chop. The old prophet no really dey serve God well, but the man of God still gree follow am, put man word above God own.

This story dey warn us not to dey find approval and direction from people instead of God. Proverbs 23:12 talk say to get correct instruction, you need discipline and to pay attention. How many times we dey take man word above God own for our life? Why we dey always want make people approve us, even when e go make us disobey God?

To follow prophet get risk, to follow fake prophet worse. Na only God we suppose dey follow—no put your trust for human being (Jeremiah 17:5). Sometimes, God go allow this kind test to see if we go obey am or follow people.

People wey dey follow prophet no go understand those wey dey follow God direct. Dem fit laugh, mock or look down on people wey dey obey God pass all, thinking say dem better because dem dey follow prophet. But see as the man of God fail him own test because e follow prophet instead of God. Make we learn to follow Jesus Christ, no be men.

Better servant no dey argue, e dey talk small, and e dey do wetin God send am. Every Christian na minister, dey work out their salvation and dey help others, dey talk to God more than people. As John 10:5 talk, no matter who dey talk, if na God talk, na Him voice we suppose obey.

Every action get consequence, good or bad, and God word na final—no room for compromise (Revelation 3:16). Make we dey follow God instruction complete, no matter how e hard reach.

God dey see disobedience as sin.

Adam and Eve learn this one the hard way. Because God holy and He hate sin, He must punish anybody wey disobey am. From that time for Garden of Eden, the rest of Genesis just dey show how people life scatter because of that first disobedience.

Disobedience na sin, and e dey break the relationship wey we get with God. But thank God say, even when we disobey, He still dey ready to forgive us and bring us back close to am.

For Numbers 20:1-13, we see say even Moses—God pikin—miss the inheritance because of disobedience. That one show say disobedience get serious consequence.

God no dey give two different instruction for the same work. If God send you, allow am guide you. No dey find approval from people wey no go ever understand your assignment. No be disobedient Christian.

PRAYER: Baba God, help me make I dey obey You well well. Teach me to follow only Your instruction, direction, and voice, no dey find excuse from people. Give me courage to trust and obey You fully, in Jesus name. Amen.
