Yes, evritin really dey yuzles!”

3Wetin pipol dey gain from all di hard work

wey dem dey do for dis world?

4Wen one generashon kom, di one wey dey before go-go,

but di world nor dey shange.

5Di sun dey raiz-up and down,

den e go hurry go anoda place where e go for raiz again.

6Breeze dey blow go sout and nort.

Yes! E dey blow round like circol.

7Even as wota dey flow enter sea rish,

di sea nor dey ever full,

bikos, na from where di wota from kom,

na der dem go rush go again.

8All dis tins dey taya pesin and nobody fit shange or tok as dem bi:

No matter wetin wi dey si and hear,

awa eyes still won si and awa ear still won hear more.

9Wetin don happen before, go happen again

and wetin pipol don do before,

dem go do am again,

bikos nor-tin dey new for dis world.

10E get anytin for dis world wey fit make pesin sey,

“Kom si o-o! Dis one neva happen before o-o”?

But di trut bi sey, e don happen even

before dem born us.

11Wi nor dey remember wetin don happen before and for di next generashon,

nobody go remember wetin wi dey do naw.

12Mi wey dey tish una, I bi king for Israel and I stay for Jerusalem 13and I make up my mind to search and undastand evritin wey pipol don do for dis world. But I kon si sey, God don really give us betta work to do for dis world. 14As I tink about evritin wey human being dey do for dis world, I kon sey: Evritin dey yuzles; e just bi like sey pesin dey porshu breeze.

15Wetin bend, wi nor go fit strait am

and wetin nor dey, wi nor go fit provide am.

16Den I tell mysef, “Na mi wise pass evry oda king wey don rule for Jerusalem before mi. Bikos I get wisdom and undastandin wey dem nor get.” 17So I kon gri to find out wetin wisdom, madness and foolishness bi. But e klear sey, na breeze I just dey porshu,

18bikos di more I dey find out,

di more e dey worry mi well-well,

bikos plenty wisdom dey bring plenty wahala too.

So di more yu know,

di more yu dey kause wahala for yorsef.

 

You ever feel say life just dey repeat itself? No matter how things dey change, e be like say the main thing never really change. Na wetin Solomon dey talk for Ecclesiastes 1:1-18—and na true e still be today.

Life Na Cycle!

Solomon, wey sabi pass everybody for him time, start Ecclesiastes with this talk: “Wetin don happen before go still happen again; wetin people don do before, dem go still do am again. Nothing new dey under the sun.”

E look life finish see say everything just dey go round and round. Sun go rise, sun go set, breeze go blow come and go, river go flow enter sea but sea no dey ever full. Human beings own sef na the same—kingdoms go rise and fall, people go come and go, wahala and happiness go dey repeat.

For this our time, everybody dey rush for “new” things—new phone, new fashion, new idea. But Solomon wisdom talk say most of this “new” na old thing wey dem just repackage. 

Verse 10 talk say, “Dem fit talk say, ‘See am, this one new!’ But e don dey before, na just say you never see am.”

Even devil no get new trick—na old one e dey recycle, just change the cover. Our so-called “new” problem na old wahala wey don wear new cloth.

Solomon still talk say all our struggle and achievement go fade one day. Verse 11 say, “Nobody dey remember people wey don die, and people wey go come sef, nobody go remember dem.”  Because say Human effort no dey last!

We fit try make name, but time go pass, and people go forget. Wetin dey important today fit no mean anything tomorrow.

Everybody Get Wahala!

Sometimes, we dey think say our own wahala special. We wan believe say nobody don pass wetin we dey pass. But Ecclesiastes 9:11 and Matthew 5:45 show say life wahala and blessing na everybody dey experience am. 

Wetin dey pain you, dey pain another person too—na human life be that.

If nothing new dey, hope still dey? Yes! The only thing wey no dey change na God love and Him word. 

Isaiah 40:8 talk say, “Grass go wither, flower go fade, but God word no go ever fail.”

God love, Him promise, and Him word no dey ever change. Everything under the sun fit change, but God dey always the same.

Solomon no write all this make we dey sad, but make we look up. E conclude for Ecclesiastes 12:13-14: “Everything wey dem suppose hear don finish: Make you fear God and obey Him commandment, na this be the duty of everybody. Because God go judge every work, even the one wey people hide, whether e good or bad.”

True meaning no dey for all this “new” wey we dey chase, but for relationship with God. Na only God fit give life better meaning and make life for this world sweet.

Make we learn to dey live eith God eye!

If you dey find something wey go really satisfy you, look above the sun—look go God side. Through Jesus Christ, God dey give us new life, new hope, and new heart. 

2 Corinthians 5:17 talk say, “If anybody dey inside Christ, na new person e be; old life don waka, new life don show.”

Na only God fit break this cycle, give you better life, and make everything new—not just for here, but forever.

PRAYER: Papa God, for this world wey everything just dey repeat, help me make I find my real meaning, peace, and hope for Your side. No let me dey run after empty things but trust You and Your word wey no dey ever fail and na only You fit make everything new for Jesus’ name, Amen.
