Dem make fire for us, bikos rain don start to dey fall and kold dey katch us. 3Wen Paul dey gada plenty stik make e put inside di fire, one snake wey dem dey koll, “Vipa”, kom out bikos of di heat kon put e mout for Paul hand. 4Wen di pipol wey dey stay der si sey di snake put e mout for Paul hand, dem kon dey tell demsef, “E bi like sey dis man hand nor klean! Even doh e nor die inside sea, hand don still tosh am for here!” 5But Paul shake di snake komot from en hand enter di fire and nor-tin do am at-all. 6But dem dey tink sey en body go swell-up or e go fall for groun die. So afta dem don wait for sometaim kon si sey nor-tin happen to am, dem kon shange mind sey, Paul na god.

 

Apostle Paul and 275 other people dey travel for Mediterranean Sea—Paul dey go Rome to face trial for Caesar hand—when one heavy storm scatter their ship. But just as God promise Paul, all of dem survive and reach one island wey dem no sabi before.

Paul no complain say e dey tired, cold or say rain dey fall. Instead, e begin help by gathering firewood make everybody fit warm. As e dey put stick for fire, one dangerous snake bite am for hand and hang there. Paul just shake the snake enter fire.

The people for the island believe say if snake bite person, na sign say the person don do bad thing and judgment don come. Dem think say Paul be criminal. Many of us fit relate—nobody like snake, and to imagine say one go hold your hand tight na real wahala!

But when life or people attack us—when wahala or betrayal show face—we no need fight back. We just need to shake am off! Romans 12:17 talk say make we no return evil for evil.

The snake wey bite Paul fit kill person, but many things and people wey we dey meet for life fit be like that too. Some people get snake mentality—dem go hide their real mind, then strike when you no expect, sometimes even inside church or from people wey you trust.

This world full of wahala, temptation, and trouble. The devil get one mission—to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10). Na why Satan dey attack God pikin, even when dem dey do wetin God send dem—just like Paul. Imagine say Paul no shake that snake off! Bad things fit still happen even when you dey obey God, because the enemy no dey rest.

Shake am off! Wetin you dey face no go destroy you, no matter how e be. Jesus don give us power to match snake and scorpion (Luke 10:19), and nothing go fit harm us if we dey walk inside that power, just like Paul. 

You fit shake am off in three ways: Symbolic act – Let go of rejection and move on.  Spiritual act – No carry bitterness or offense.  Practical act – Choose peace over wetin people dey talk.

The snake bite wan stop Paul from doing God work, but he shake am off and continue. We too must learn to overlook offense, ignore bad talk, and waka pass betrayal or insult. With God power, we fit shake off any challenge wey come our way.

No let anything hold you down or stop your movement. Shake am off! 

Any pain or wahala from your past—shake am off!

God get better plan for your life, and your future no get space for old snakebite or poison. 

Shake am off!

Life fit make some things attach to you wey no go help you—shake am off! 

To carry offense dey heavy—shake am off! 

Rejection no mean say you no get value—sometimes na God dey redirect you (Matthew 10:14). 

God plan for your life no depend on people approval.

Make you get hope and shake off anything wey wan hold you back. 

You no be wetin people reject—you be wetin God call you to be. 

Shake off the dust, the doubt, the fear, and the failure. 

Continue to waka inside your purpose. God still get better things for your front.

Ask God with prayer make e give you strength to forgive and let go, even if the person no say sorry. Then focus on your assignment, no be your attackers.

PRAYER: Papa God, give me the boldness to use the power wey You give me to stand against the enemy, no matter how e take come. Help me to always shake am off, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
