8E kom rish Zekaraya family turn to do priest work for di temple 9and as dia custom bi, dem kon choose Zekaraya make e enter inside God Temple go burn incense. 10Wen di time to burn incense don rish, all di pipol kon gada for outside dey pray.

11God angel appear to Zekaraya for di altar side near where dem for dey burn incense. 12As Zekaraya si di angel, fear katch am well-well and e kon dey shake. 13But di angel tell am, “Make yu nor fear Zekaraya, bikos God don hear yor prayer. Yor wife Elizabet go born boy pikin for yu and yu go koll am, ‘John.’ 14Di pikin go bring joy and happiness for yu and many pipol go happy well-well wen dem born am, 15bikos God go use am well-well. E nor go drink wine or strong drink, but di Holy Spirit go dey inside am, even before dem go born am. 16E go make many pipol follow God. 17E go first kom with Elijah spirit and pawa, before di Oga God ensef go kom. E go make papa setol with dia shidren and pipol wey nor dey obey God before, e go make dem obey am naw, so dat dem go dey ready to meet am for heaven.”

18Zekaraya ask di angel, “How I go take know sey wetin yu tok so go happen? Bikos mi and my wife don old well-well.”

19Di angel ansa, “I bi Gabriel, wey dey stand for God present and na-im send mi kom tell yu dis Good News. 20But since yu nor bilive wetin I tok so, yu nor go fit tok again, until di day wen dis tins go happen.”

 

Serious talk—shut your mouth! Make you keep am shut until God say make you open am.

Many of us dey spoil our own destiny because we no fit keep quiet make God finish wetin e start for our life. Too many times, we dey talk before time, or we dey talk wetin we want make God do, instead of wetin God talk for Him word.

You ever wonder why angel Gabriel shut Zechariah mouth?

Zechariah talk too much.

E question God plan.

E no believe say God fit do am.

All of us get small Zechariah for body—some dey doubt, some dey talk too much, some dey always ask God question. Which one you be?

Verse 6 talk say Zechariah and Elizabeth dey live right, dem dey obey God law. Dem know say nothing hard for God according to Matthew 19:26. But when angel bring God promise, Zechariah no gree believe. E dey find proof instead of trust God.

Gabriel tell am: “You go keep quiet till everything wey I talk happen!”

Sometimes, God want make we just keep quiet until e finish wetin e dey do for our life.

You know say sometimes, to keep quiet fit save you? Proverbs 13:3 talk say “person wey guard e mouth go save e life.” Ecclesiastes 3:7 talk say time dey to shut up, time dey to talk. Even police go tell you, “You get right to remain silent,” because as Jesus talk for Matthew 12:37, na your word fit judge you.

Plenty Christians never learn how to keep quiet. We dey talk wetin we want, wetin God promise, wetin we dey wait for—but sometimes, if you talk for wrong place or wrong time, e fit spoil everything.

Joseph for Bible for Genesis 37 na example—e talk e dream give e brothers, dem no happy, wahala come. But that Shunammite woman for 2 Kings 4:8-28, she keep her mouth shut until she reach the prophet wey fit help am. Sometimes, make you keep quiet until you reach your “Carmel”—the place wey God answer dey.

Proverbs 18:13 talk say if you no get all the fact, keep quiet.

God want make we sabi when to talk and when to keep quiet. Zechariah keep quiet until God promise show—na then e open mouth praise God for verse 64. Sometimes, na silence dey join God promise and when e go happen.

Silence na gold! When the Israelites begin panic for Red Sea, Moses tell dem for Exodus 14:13-14 say: “The Lord go fight for una; una just need to calm down and keep quiet.”

Sometimes, the best thing wey you fit do when wahala show face, na to just keep quiet, trust God, and allow Him do Him work.

Wetin you go do:

No use your mouth spoil your destiny.

No dey tell everybody your dream.

No use your word dey rush God.

Wait for God time—make e finish Him work for you.

Shut your mouth and keep am shut make God promise fit show!

PRAYER: Baba God, help me make I fit control my mouth. No let me talk too much or talk when I never suppose talk. Give me wisdom to know when to keep quiet and when to talk, make I no spoil your plan for my life. Make my word always follow your will and help me wait till your promise go show. In Jesus name, Amen.
