VICTORY IS ASSURED!
Revelation 19:11-16 TLB
Then I saw heaven opened and
a white horse standing there; and the one sitting on the horse was named
Faithful and True-the one who justly punishes and makes war. [12] His eyes were
like flames, and on his head were many crowns. A name was written on his
forehead, and only he knew its meaning. [13] He was clothed with garments
dipped in blood, and his title was "The Word of God." [14] The armies
of heaven, dressed in finest linen, white and clean, followed him on white
horses. [15] In his mouth he held a sharp sword to strike down the nations; he
ruled them with an iron grip; and he trod the winepress of the fierceness of
the wrath of Almighty God. [16] On his robe and thigh was written this title:
"King of Kings and Lord of Lords."
Whose side are you on? Are
you on the winning side? Do you know how the battle for eternity will unfold?
Have you considered what will be lost or gained at the return of Christ?
The second coming of Christ
is introduced with the dramatic opening of heaven. A white horse appears,
carrying the Lord—gloriously adorned and righteously arrayed—coming to wage war
against the enemies of God and mankind.
This epic battle, involving
the dragon, the beast, and the false prophet, is preceded by a majestic
description of Christ as the victorious King. According to Revelation 6:2, the
white horse symbolizes a conquering conqueror. Jesus, crowned with many crowns,
rides forth in triumph. With Christ as our conquering King, victory is assured.
The white horse signifies
the certainty of triumph. Its rider—Jesus Christ—is already victorious. The
colour white, often associated with purity, also represents victory. His
titles, “Faithful and True,” unmistakably identify Him as the Lord. Jesus returns
as “Faithful and True”: perfectly reliable and just, coming to judge and make
war in righteousness. His character guarantees that He cannot fail or be
defeated.
As believers, we are assured
through Scripture that God the Father and Jesus the Son are always victorious.
And we, as followers of Christ, share in that victory. 1 Corinthians 15:57
declares: “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus
Christ.”
No matter where we find
ourselves in life, as long as we remain in Christ, we are victors—because
Christ is always victorious.
From the time of Israel’s
exodus from Egypt, whenever God’s people depended solely on Him, He granted
them victory. Moses celebrated this in his song in Exodus 15.
The battle described in
Revelation was already won at the cross. As Zechariah 9:9 proclaims: “Rejoice
greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O Daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your
King comes to you; He is just and having salvation, triumphant and victorious,
patient, meek, lowly, and riding on a donkey.”
At His return, Jesus will
come not as a humble servant, but as a righteous judge and warrior—riding a
white horse like a victorious Roman general in a triumphal parade. Revelation
19:14 tells us that the armies of heaven will follow Him, also riding white
horses, sharing in His victory.
You may wonder how victory
can be assured when the world seems overwhelmed by evil and chaos. But Satan,
his armies, the false prophet, and the antichrist will all face judgment. God
will fulfil His purpose when they gather for the final battle at Megiddo.
Throughout Scripture, God
has declared who will ultimately reign. What now appears as confusion will be
transformed when Christ returns. Even nature, as described in Romans 8:20–22,
will respond to His presence.
The Son of Man will come
with eyes like flames of fire and a sharp sword. His many crowns signify His
supreme authority as King of kings and Lord of lords. He is called the Word of
God, and He bears a name known only to Himself. He comes riding in victory.
Victory is assured because
Jesus Christ, the all-powerful, all-authoritative, and righteous King, returns
to judge evil, establish justice, and rule forever. His identity, authority,
and the backing of heaven guarantee that no force can stand against Him, making
His victory—and the victory of all who belong to Him—absolutely certain.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, thank
You for the assurance of victory through Your sacrifice and Your return. Help
us to remain steadfast in faith, knowing that no matter the battles we face, we
are more than conquerors through You. May we live daily in the confidence of Your
triumph. Amen.
