ATMOSPHERE SHIFT!
Haggai 2:6-7 TLB
[6] "For the Lord Almighty says, 'In just a little while
I will begin to shake the heavens and earth-and the oceans, too, and the dry
land. [7] I will shake all nations, and the Desire of All Nations shall come to
this Temple, and I will fill this place with my glory,' says the Lord Almighty.
With the climate change mantra now everywhere, it seems
people still prefer to hold on to the atmosphere only when it’s beneficial,
rather than embrace the shifts that come with new seasons.
In prayer, we often ask the Lord to change our circumstances,
but many times we are unwilling to take the steps of faith that would actually
bring about an atmosphere shift.
The dictionary defines atmosphere as the pervading tone or
mood of a place, situation, or creative work—especially one defined by the
Spirit of God.
In Genesis 1, we see God create the elements and set the
atmosphere. Throughout Jesus’ ministry, He commanded the elements and shifted
the atmosphere to align with God’s will, as seen in Mark 4:35-41, where He
calmed the storm with just a word.
God, who made all things—including the elements—still has the
power to command all things to shift and change. In Haggai 2:6-7, God declares,
“I will shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. I will shake
all nations, and what is desired by all nations will come, and I will fill this
house with glory.” This emphasizes the Lord’s sovereign authority over all
creation and His promise to bring transformation for His glory.
God’s shaking is not just about judgment, but about revealing
His glory, purifying His people, and bringing forth His promises. He can shift
any atmosphere—physical, spiritual, or emotional—to fulfil His purposes.
What circumstances and strongholds are you trusting the Lord
to shift for you? It doesn’t matter how long it’s been or what it is—one word
from God can shift that situation if you will only believe. As Matthew 21:21
says, if you have faith and do not doubt, you can speak to any mountain, and it
will move.
The climatic atmosphere can shift suddenly, for better or
worse, sometimes even fatally. In the same way, the spiritual atmosphere can
change in an instant. The enemy works hard to pull us out of God’s will and
keep us in captivity, but we must learn to exercise our spiritual authority and
dominion in Christ to maintain the right spiritual atmosphere.
Jesus changed the atmosphere by turning a raging storm into
calm. The storm did not obey Jesus simply because He was the Son of God, but
because He had faith and understood the authority God gave humanity in Genesis
1:26. Jesus knew that faith could move mountains and shift atmospheres.
We too can operate in the same faith that Jesus demonstrated.
In John 14:12, Jesus says that those who believe in Him will do the works He
did—and even greater works. This means that wherever there is a stormy
situation, our faith can shift the atmosphere for God’s glory.
Our faith can transform the atmosphere of a broken
relationship, a troubled neighbourhood, or even a nation plagued by violence,
injustice, or poverty. If we believe and operate in faith and dominion, we can
see God shift any atmosphere.
No matter the time, day, location, or situation, God can step
in and shift the atmosphere. In Acts 16:25-28, Paul and Silas prayed and sang
hymns to God in prison. Suddenly, there was a violent earthquake, the
foundations of the prison were shaken, and all the doors flew open. God shifted
the atmosphere and brought deliverance.
Are you trusting God for a shift in your medical, physical,
financial, emotional, or spiritual atmosphere? Begin to declare the Word of
God, which carries the power to change any situation. As believers, we don’t
have to accept or be victims of negative atmospheres. Instead, we are called to
partner with God, exercising our authority in Christ to influence and transform
the atmosphere wherever we are.
PRAYER: Father, in the name of Jesus, I command every
negative atmosphere operating in my life, my family, my community, and my
nation to shift now. Let Your glory fill every place, and let Your will be
done. Empower me to walk in faith and spiritual authority, and to be an agent
of change for Your kingdom. Amen.
