GOD’S PERFECT TIME!
Ecclesiastes 3:1-11 BSB
To everything there is a
season, and a time for every purpose under heaven: [2] a time to be born and a
time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot, [3] a time to kill and a
time to heal, a time to break down and a time to build, [4] a time to weep and
a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, [5] a time to cast away
stones and a time to gather stones together, a time to embrace and a time to
refrain from embracing, [6] a time to search and a time to count as lost, a
time to keep and a time to discard, [7] a time to tear and a time to mend, a
time to be silent and a time to speak, [8] a time to love and a time to hate, a
time for war and a time for peace. [9] What does the worker gain from his toil?
[10] I have seen the burden that God has laid upon the sons of men to occupy
them. [11] He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set
eternity in the hearts of men, yet they cannot fathom the work that God has
done from beginning to end.
Time is everything! There is
an appropriate occasion for every human event or activity on earth. All earthly
endeavours, at their appropriate time, are productive and fruitful.
And in the spiritual realm,
timing is crucial. God’s perfect will for you is directly related to His
perfect timing! According to verse 11, He will only make things beautiful in
His time, as He alone determines.
Everything has its time and
season. God, by His providence, governs the world and determines events and
operations for specific times and seasons. If we neglect or ignore these
appointed seasons, we sin against His providence and become the authors of our
own disappointments.
God establishes His set time
for whatever we ask the moment we pray. When we understand that the time has
already been scheduled by God, it takes all the pressure off us to perform.
According to Isaiah 25:1, God’s timing and plans for us were formed long before
us—they are not last-minute, but part of a long-assured plan.
God gave man the portion of
duration called time—the duration in which all things of nature are carried
out.
Time, in the general sense
of "duration" or passing moments, is noted in Genesis 4:3; 26:8; and
Job 15:32.
God’s purposes are
accomplished as we discover His perfect will.
God is time. The Creator of
the universe is not subject to man’s chronological clock of 24 hours, as
expressed in 2 Peter 3:8, which reminds us that God has His set timing. God
does not move according to our schedule. He is never late, but He is usually not
early either.
We must learn to trust God’s
perfect timing.
We all have issues with
patience, waiting, delays, and slowness, but God works through all these things
for His glory.
So, if you have a vision and
are waiting for it, as God’s Word declares in Habakkuk 2:2-3, there is an
appointed time for the fulfilment of the vision.
Because God operates on an
eternal calendar, according to Psalm 90:4, His perfect plan will be fulfilled
when the time is right—not when you think it is.
Galatians 4:4 reiterates
verse 1, confirming that there is indeed a set, appropriate, and specific time
for everything. When that fullness of time comes—the time which God in His
infinite wisdom knows is best—things will work by the power of the Holy Spirit,
and not by your efforts.
Abraham and Sarah had to
wait a long time before God's promise came to pass, but it finally did in
Genesis 21:1-3. Whatever you are waiting on God for will happen at His perfect
time.
Psalm 27:14 encourages us to
wait for God’s timing, even when we feel like it’s taking too long. We must
avoid the temptation to run ahead of God and take matters into our own
hands—that is what Sarah did, and she ended up with Ishmael.
Even when we feel delayed,
we must learn to look for God’s purpose in the delay, because according to
Psalm 33:20, God alone is our help. Divine delays can protect us and stop us
from burning out and crashing.
God’s perfect time requires
trust on your part, patience in endurance, and total commitment—all of which
bring God’s beautiful blessings in time.
That which has been now; and
that which is to be, already has been. God’s perfect time is the best.
