PIDGIN BRINGING DEAD THINGS TO LIFE!

Ezekiel 37:1-14 “Den God pawa enter my body and en spirit kon karry mi go one valley where dry bones full. 2E take mi waka round di place and I kon si sey di bones many and dem dry well-well. 3E kon tell mi, “Man pikin, yu bilive sey dis bones fit turn to human being again?” I kon ansa, “God wey get pawa, na only Yu fit ansa dat kind kweshon!” 4E kon sey, “Tok to di bones. Tell di bones sey make dem listin to wetin God dey tok. 5Make yu tell dem wetin mi God wey get pawa dey tell dem: I go give una life again. 6I go give una flesh kon kover una body with skin. I go bring una kom back to life. Den una go know sey na mi bi God.”

7So I tok to di bones just as God tell mi. As I dey tok, I hear one strong nois and di bones kon dey join togeda. 8As I dey look, flesh kon kover di bones, den dem kon get skin. But dia body nor get life.

9God kon tell mi, “Man pikin, tok to di breeze. Tell di breeze sey God wey get pawa dey kommand am to kom from difren place kon give life to dis body dem wey dey groun, so dat dem go get life.” 10So I kon tok as God don tell mi. Life kon enter di body dem and dem kon stand up. Dem many well-well like sojas.

11God kon tell mi, “Man pikin, Israel pipol bi like dis bones. Dem sey dem don dry finish, dem nor get hope or bilive sey dia future dey brite. 12So, go tell Israel pipol sey mi wey bi dia Oga God go open dia graves kon take dia dead body kom out; give dem life, den bring dem kom back to Israel land. 13Wen I open di grave where dem beri my pipol put kon bring dem out, na den dem go know sey na mi bi God. 14I go give dem my own Spirit kon make dem stay for dia own land. Den, dem go know sey na mi bi God. I don promise sey I go do wetin I tok and I go do am.

God get special power wey pass life and death! As Bible talk for John 6:63, the word of God na spirit and life, e mean say the word get power inside am to bring dead thing back to life. The word of God strong well well, e fit change anything and the change go last forever.

Bible get plenty story wey show how God, either by Himself, through Him prophets or through Jesus, bring people wey don die come back to life. The one wey everybody sabi pass na the resurrection of Lazarus for John 11:25-26. Jesus show say Him get power over death and na Him be “the resurrection and the life”.

Na Jesus be that, na why e fit do am! Yes, na true say na Jesus, but wetin about our text?

Jesus no dey there, but the Holy Spirit dey. The Holy Spirit show say e get power and the word of God strong well. The widow of Nain pikin for Luke 7:11–17 come back to life just because Jesus command am with word.

The resurrection of Jesus na the main thing for New Testament, e show say Jesus win death and e give us hope say we too go rise again. Apostle Paul talk say Christ resurrection na “first fruits” of those wey go rise, e join Jesus resurrection with the resurrection of everybody wey belong to am.

Our text show us the vision of valley of dry bones, where God tell prophet Ezekiel make e prophesy to dry bones wey no get life at all. As Ezekiel talk, the bones come join together, flesh cover dem, then God put breath for their body, dem come alive as big army. This vision show say God fit restore and revive not just one person but whole community or nation, especially Israel.

The passage use the Hebrew word “ruach”, wey mean both “breath” and “spirit”, e show say na God Spirit dey give life and renewal and e show say God get power over life and death. Bible talk for many places say na only God get power to give and restore life:

Deuteronomy 32:39: “I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal; nor is there any who can deliver from My hand”.

1 Samuel 2:6: “The LORD gives both death and life; he brings some down to the grave but raises others up”.

Romans 4:17 talk say God na the one “who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist,” e show say God fit create and restore anything.

Bible still talk about spiritual resurrection—how God dey bring people wey don die for spirit back to life through faith in Christ. Jesus talk say, “Whoever believes in me, though he dies, yet shall he live,” e mean both physical resurrection and the promise of everlasting life for people wey believe.

The resurrection story still show say God fit turn hopeless or “dead” situation around, e fit bring renewal, hope and restoration.

Wetin be that dead situation wey you dey face now? Hold faith and hope, the God wey dey bring life to dead thing fit breathe life into that thing if you ask am with faith.

John 11, Luke 7, and 1 Kings 17 give us example of how God really raise dead people, show say God fit raise the dead physically.

Our text assure us say God dey restore and revive nations and communities. Some communities dey now wey need God intervention but dem no wan turn to God because dem no know or dem reject the Lord.

We know and we sure say na only God fit revive situation wey don die and breathe hope into anything. Romans 4:17 still talk am say na only God dey give life to the dead and dey call things wey no dey as if dem dey.

Wetin be that dead thing wey you dey trust God to bring to life? No give up! No let go! Hold on and trust God again make e breathe life and bring those dead things to life.
