CHILD-FRIENDLY ASK NOT FOR A KING
Memory Verse: “This request displeased Samuel, so he prayed to the Lord.” — 1 Samuel 8:6
What Happened in the Bible?
The people of Israel asked
God for a king because they wanted to be like other nations.
But God didn’t want them to
have a king—He wanted to be their King!
They didn’t trust God to
take care of them, so they asked for something that wasn’t part of His plan.
What Can We Learn?
- Sometimes we ask God for
things we think we need, but God knows what’s best for us.
- God wants us to trust Him,
not just ask for things because others have them.
- When we pray, we should
ask for things that match God’s plan, not just what we want.
Bible Truths
- God warned the people that
a king would take their land and make life hard.
- But they still wanted a
king, and God let them have one—even though it wasn’t His best plan.
- When we ask for things
with wrong reasons, we might miss out on God’s better blessings.
Why Do We Ask for Things?
- Do we ask because we’re
scared?
- Do we ask because we want
to be like others?
- Or do we ask because we trust
God and want His will?
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
1. When you pray, do you ask
God what He wants for you?
2. Have you ever wanted
something just because someone else had it?
3. How can you trust God
more and wait for His plan?
4. What can you do to make
sure your prayers match God’s will?
PRAYER: Dear God, help me to
trust You and ask for things that match Your plan. Teach me to pray with a pure
heart and not just ask for things because I want them. I want to follow You and
wait for Your perfect timing. Amen.
Shalom
