(CHILD-FRIENDLY) THE SIXTH COMMANDMENT!
Memory Verse: “You shall not commit murder.” — Exodus 20:13
What Does It Mean?
This commandment means we
should never hurt others on purpose, especially in a way that takes their
life.
God made every person
special and, in His image, so every life is precious and should be protected.
Even though children don’t
commit murder, this commandment teaches us to:
- Be kind, not mean.
- Use our words to help, not
hurt.
- Forgive instead of staying
angry.
What Does Jesus Say?
Jesus said in Matthew
5:21–22 that even being angry or calling someone names is like breaking this
commandment.
So, it’s not just about
hurting someone physically—it’s also about how we treat people in our hearts
and with our words.
What Should We Do Instead?
- Love others, even when
they’re hard to love.
- Forgive quickly, just like
Jesus forgives us.
- Speak kindly, even when
we’re upset.
- Ask God for help when we
feel angry.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
1. Have I ever been so angry
that I wanted to hurt someone with my words?
2. What can I do when I feel
mad at someone?
3. How can I show love
instead of hate?
4. Why is every person’s
life important to God?
PRAYER: Dear God, help me to
love others the way You love me. Teach me to be kind, gentle, and forgiving.
Let my words and actions bring peace, not hurt. Amen.
Shalom
