CHILD-FRIENDLY: STOP MIXING GOD WITH OTHER STUFF!
Memory Verse: “Respect the Lord your God, serve only Him, and make promises in His name.” — Deuteronomy 6:13
-What Does This Mean?
God wants us to love and
follow only Him.
We shouldn’t mix our faith
in God with other beliefs, idols, or things that don’t come from the Bible.
Why Is This Important?
- God is the only true God.
- He wants our full
attention and love.
- Mixing God with other
stuff is like saying He’s not enough—and that makes God sad.
What the Bible Says
- Exodus 20:3–4: “Don’t have
other gods. Don’t make or worship idols.”
- Psalm 81:9: “Don’t worship
foreign gods.”
- Matthew 6:24: “You can’t
serve two masters.”
- 2 Corinthians 6:14: “Light
and darkness don’t mix.”
- Isaiah 45:22: “Turn to Me
and be saved. I am God, and there is no other.”
Examples Kids Can Understand
- If you say you love God,
but also believe in magic or lucky charms, that’s mixing.
- If you pray to God but
also follow things that don’t come from the Bible, that’s mixing.
- God wants us to trust Him
only, not mix Him with other beliefs or ideas.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
1. Are there things I
believe or do that don’t come from the Bible?
2. Do I trust God
completely, or do I sometimes look for help in other places?
3. Am I ready to follow God
only and not mix Him with other stuff?
PRAYER: Dear God, Help me to
follow You and You alone. I don’t want to mix You with anything else. Teach me
to trust You fully and love You with all my heart, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
Activity: Read Deuteronomy
