GODLY INFLUENCER TWO!
1 Peter 2:12 (VOICE)
“Live honorably among the outsiders so that, even when some
may be inclined to call you criminals, when they see your good works, they
might give glory to God when He returns in judgment.”
Still on the topic of influencers! Are you an influencer in
your sphere? Who can be an influencer? Who is an influencer? How do we
influence others, and why is it important?
We are never meant to listen primarily to the voice of man
but always to the voice of God—especially when men or people are not listening
to God’s voice.
Currently, there are far more social, economic, and cultural
influencers than spiritual or godly influencers. God created us and gave us
power, authority, and dominion over all things. When we come to Christ, our
authority is even greater because we walk in the name of Jesus.
Naturally, life does not come with a written manual, but
according to 2 Timothy 3:16, all we need for life is found in Scripture. Paul
emphasizes the authority of all Scripture; it has authority in every
area—finances, business, marriage, child-rearing, health, and more. The divine
origin of Scripture is the reason for its power and usefulness in training and
guiding us.
We are not to proclaim ourselves or rely solely on our own
abilities, but rather on Christ, as stated in 2 Corinthians 4:5. The
opportunity, privilege, and ability to positively influence people come through
Christ.
However, the enemy uses people’s skills, talents, and
abilities to negatively influence the world, creating a false community filled
with demonic, evil, wicked, and unrighteous influences. 2 Corinthians 4:3-4
explains this spiritual blindness: “Even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled
to those who are perishing. The god of this world has blinded the minds of
unbelievers so they cannot see the glorious light of the gospel of Christ, who
is the image of God.”
People are blinded to the truth of the gospel but easily
accept the enemy’s lies.
Because of such influences, many godly principles that once
governed society—even those followed by unbelievers—are now considered
unnecessary. Influencers promote ideas that undermine biblical values.
For example, some influencers claim women have full authority
over their bodies, including the right to terminate pregnancies, but Psalm
139:16 clearly says God sees each embryo as a person. Sadly, some believers are
also swayed by the lie that abortion is preferable to allowing a child to
suffer.
Influence comes in many forms, and as believers, we must
earnestly desire to offer godly and positive influence on everyone we meet.
Sometimes bad ideas and intentions remain dormant until an
influential voice encourages or empowers the wrong actions. A biblical example
is found in 2 Samuel 13, where the friendship and negative influence of Jonadab
gave Amnon the false courage to violate his sister Tamar—a decision that
sparked a chain of tragic consequences including murder, division, and war.
This story cautions us strongly about the power of ungodly influences.
Remember 1 Corinthians 15:33: “Bad company corrupts good
character.”
Jonadab was bad company.
Galatians 5:9 also warns us: “A little leaven leavens the
whole lump.”
It only takes one bad influence to cause us to lose our
spiritual focus. Therefore, be very selective and wise about the company you
keep—your friends and associates significantly shape your spiritual and moral
life.
Be a godly influencer!
