For dis our world today, some men don put themselves for God position. Dem dey behave as if na dem be God, dey talk say na God dey talk through dem. Some of dem even see themselves as CEO for God hand—na dem wan dey order God around, no be God dey order dem again.

God create human being make we resemble am—like Bible talk for Genesis 1:26-27: “God make man in im own image, after im likeness.” This mean say we get some qualities like God: we sabi think, get sense of right and wrong, fit get relationship, and sabi control wetin dey around us.

Bible talk for Psalm 82:6-7: “You be gods, but you go still die like men.” Even for Acts 14:8, e show say men no be God; dem just dey represent God for dis world under God authority. As human being, our work na to connect with God and live the way wey God like.

But some people dey, wey dey think say dem be God. Anybody wey accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour na messenger God send to human beings.

Malachi 2:7 yan say: “For where priest dey, dem suppose sabi wetin dem dey talk, people suppose find knowledge from dem mouth, because dem be messenger of the Lord of hosts.”

Which kind knowledge Bible dey talk about here, na God own or na man own? 

If man na God messenger, e suppose dey talk God message, no be im own idea.

But see as some “men of God” don turn to ‘Charismafia’ and ‘Penterebels’, dey punish people as dem like and dey give reward as if na God send dem. Me and you suppose remember wetin Lamentations 3:37 talk: na only God fit confirm and make im word happen, no be man.

Even if people dey call themselves gods or pastor, dem go still die like other wicked men if dem no dey careful. The whole thing na warning make nobody too sure of himself or dey proud, because all of us go give account to God. I even remember one pastor talk say, “I better pass God, I fit do wetin God no fit do.” I never fit understand that kind talk; e no make sense anywhere. Which human being fit better pass God wey create heaven and earth? Na lie and deceiving be dat!

Some “men of God” wan make people believe say God no fit do anything without dem, say God need dem pass as dem need God—na scam be that, na devil work be dat.

You sef, you dey follow man instead of God? You dey do wetin “man of God” say, even when e dey go against wetin Bible talk?

Today, many people dey act like God, dey collect power wey belong only to God—all na human beings give dem that power, no be God. This one na clear idolatry and blasphemy—when person or people dey put themselves for position wey only God suppose dey. Dem become fake prophet and leader, follow human sense and pride leave God’s way. People dey always find wetin go fill the vacuum for their life; dem go follow new philosophy, mindfulness, or fake spirituality. Dem go dey follow human leader as if dem no fit ever make mistake, as if na dem get last say. But we suppose remember Isaiah 42:8, God talk say e no dey share im glory with anybody.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

-         How you don see people for your area or church put themselves or others for God place?

-         How you fit sabi if wetin pastor or leader dey teach follow God word or na pride and human idea?

-         For your own life, you don ever follow human instruction pass God own? How you go take change and put your focus back to God?

-         Which step you fit take now to make sure na God you dey worship and obey, no be just dey trust any man of God pass as you trust God?

PRAYER: O Lord God, abeg give me wisdom and understanding make I sabi wetin I suppose know. Make I dey live and move inside You alone. Make I no dey follow men wey dey act like God. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
