PIDGIN NO SHORTCUTS!

Matthew 7:13-20 “Make yu pass di small gate enter, bikos di gate wey pipol go pass go sofa, wide well-well and many pipol dey waka enter. 14But di gate wey pipol dey pass enter life, small well-well and e hard to enter and na only few pipol go fit si am.”

15“Make yu shine yor eye, bikos lie-lie profets go kom like sheep, but for inside dia heart, dem bi wiked animal wey dey kill. 16Yu go know dem with wetin dem dey do. Pipol nor dey gada grape or fig from shuku-shuku. 17So too, evry good tree go bear good fruit, but bad tree, go bear bad fruit. 18Good tree nor go fit bear bad fruit and bad tree nor go fit bear good fruit. 19Any tree wey nor bear good fruit, dem go kut am down kon trow am inside fire. 20So, yu go know di lie-lie profets with wetin dem dey do.”

 

Everybody like shortcut! The shorter, the better! But my mama used to talk say, “wetin person think say na shortcut, fit end up as the longest road.” True talk from my experience. Bible always warn make we no dey find shortcut—whether for our character, our spiritual life, or daily living—instead, Bible dey tell us make we get patience, work hard, and do things the right way.

Matthew 7:13-14 (MSG) talk about shortcut for our spiritual journey: “No dey find shortcut reach God. Market dey full of easy solution, quick-quick formula wey people dey talk say go make life better if you just do am for your spare time. No fall for am, even if many people dey do am. Di road wey go lead to life—to God!—na road wey need better energy and focus.”

This passage really show say, to follow God dey require plenty effort, patience, and serious mind. No shortcut—na process wey go take time if you really wan grow for God side or achieve anything wey go last.

Proverbs 14:23 talk: “Who work hard go get profit, but to just dey talk dey bring poverty.” Na true work dey bring real reward, shortcut and only talk no go give better result.

Bible still talk say, “Road fit dey appear correct to person, but na death dey the end,” Proverbs 16:25. E mean say, make we dey always choose wetin God say make we do, no be to follow shortcut or road wey just look easy, because e fit carry serious wahala.

You ever take road wey look short but e come long pass? Like Israelites when dem waka for wilderness, road wey suppose short come turn long.

Abraham, Sarah and Hagar try run God promise for pikin by themself inside Genesis 16, and e bring plenty wahala and fight. E show say anytime we try shortcut God plan, e no go end well.

To dey find shortcut fit make person regret, lose many things, or miss wetin God prepare for us. Bible dey encourage make we trust God time and way, even when e dey long or hard.

And as e be, nobody fit take shortcut enter heaven. Sadly, many dey take shortcut reach hell road! If you never receive Jesus, na Satan side you dey go by default.

Jacob and im mama Rebekah use shortcut deceive Isaac make Jacob collect Esau blessing. But e bring family wahala and hardship—show say shortcut, lies, and impatience dey get big price.

Bible talk say, “narrow gate” for Matthew 7:14 mean the road wey dey hard, wey require discipline, wey most people no like to follow. But na that path dey carry real reward wey go last. Shortcut na bait—fit make person miss blessing and reward wey dey come from staying faithful and working hard.

Real progress, growth, and blessing dey come from patient work, honesty, and following God correct way—no shortcut. People wey find quick way go many times end up with disappointment or loss. Wetin God want na make we hold integrity, trust Him, and learn from the process, whether e long or difficult.

To dey take shortcut many times dey show laziness or lack of patience for spiritual life, and na recipe for loss.

Israel journey for wilderness for Deuteronomy 1:2 and 46 suppose end quick, but God make dem pass that long way make dem learn obedience and trust instead of just rushing the journey. Any time dem try dodge the lesson, na more wahala come.

To embrace shortcut fit bring regret, loss, and bigger problem than the main road itself. Shortcut fit look easy for face, but e dey reduce your spiritual growth, character, and your closeness to God.

Bible teach say, to really grow strong and mature for God, person must endure, face testing, and no dey run from challenge. Scripture always join reward and satisfaction to perseverance, no be from dodging wahala.

Shortcut—whether for spiritual, business or day to day life—fit lead to spiritual laziness, missed blessing, regret, and sometimes even destruction. God call us make we dey do things slow and steady with integrity, endurance, and dey trust in Him.

- Wetin be the spiritual danger for person wey dey find quick fix instead of to remain faithful?

- Why Jesus talk about wide and narrow road in relation to shortcut?
