Guarding Your Heart and Mind 

Proverbs 4:23 “Make yu do anytin to get wisdom, trut, undastand and good sense and if yu get dem, make yu nor sell dem, bikos dem go help yu well-well.

 

Spiritual and personal poison no stop for anger, envy, and gluttony alone. Plenty other attitude and behavior fit enter our life small small, dey spoil our spiritual health and general wellbeing.

Bitterness na poison wey dey chop joy and peace join. Hebrews 12:15 talk say, “Make nobody miss God grace or get bitter root wey go cause wahala and spoil plenty people.” Bitterness fit harden your heart, make am no fit take God healing or forgive and love others.

Unforgiveness act like poison for soul because e dey keep wounds open and fresh. Jesus talk for Matthew 6:14-15 say to forgive others na serious matter, if no be so, God no go forgive us. If you hold grudge, e go feed bitterness and spiritual poison.

Fear and anxiety na toxic feelings wey fit paralyze mind, body, and spirit. Philippians 4:6-7 tell us make we no dey worry but carry all our matter go God for prayer, so Him peace go guard our heart and mind.

Pride na one of worst poison for spiritual growth. E blind us to our own fault and carry us divide from God and people. Proverbs 16:18 dey remind us say, “Pride dey before destruction, and stubborn spirit dey before fall.”

Addiction or dependency whether na drugs, bad habit or people, fit be form of poison wey dey take away our freedom and joy. 1 Corinthians 6:12 talk say, make we no allow anything master us even if e dey permissible.

To guard our heart against spiritual poison, we need to protect our feelings, thoughts, and spirit with biblical self-control, mind renewal, and sharp vigilance. Here are better ways wey Scripture and spiritual sense advise:

1. Renew your mind always according to Romans 12:2 talk say make we no conform with world pattern but make we dey transform by renewing our mind with God Word. If you dey meditate daily, e go replace bad thought with God wisdom and truth.

2. Wear God armor as Ephesians 6:10-18 talk, make we put on spiritual armor like truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and God Word to protect ourselves against spiritual attack and poison.

3. Control your emotions. Ephesians 4:31-32 tell say make we put away bitterness, anger, and other bad feelings but show kindness and forgiveness. If you sabi control emotions well, e no go turn to poison.

4. Forgive others according to Hebrews 12:15, e say if you hold unforgiveness, e go breed bitterness. Choose to forgive like God don forgive you.

5. Practice self-control and moderation as Galatians 5:22-23 talk, e identify self-control as fruit of Holy Spirit. Make you dey careful about excess wey fit poison your life like gluttony or addiction.

6. Pray for protection and guidance. Psalm 51:10 say make you always ask God for protection to guard your heart, show hidden poison, and help you resist temptation and negative things.

7. Cultivate Godly passion. Romans 12:11 talk say make your passion be for God and Him purpose. If your passion dey focus for God, e go help you persevere well and protect you from bad desire.

- You get any bitter attitude or unforgiveness wey you need surrender to God for healing? 

- Wetin be fear or anxiety wey dey hold you back from enjoying God peace? 

- How pride fit dey affect your spiritual growth and relationship? 

- You dey depend on anything besides God to fill emptiness or comfort you, and e fit dey harm you?

PRAYER: 

Lord Jesus, thank You for Your patience and compassion for me. I dey ask You to show me if any bitterness, unforgiveness, pride, fear, or addiction dey poison my soul. Help me to surrender all these to You so Your healing and freedom fit flow inside me. Fill me with Your peace, humility, and love. Teach me to trust You well, depend only on Your strength, not my own. Guard my heart and mind daily so that I fit waka free and serve You with joy. For Your mighty name, Amen.
