CHILD-FRIENDLY DON’T BURN OUT!
Memory Verse: I thank him who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful, appointing me to his service, 1 Timothy 1:12 ESV
Have you ever felt very
tired, worn out, or like you just can’t do anything anymore? That’s called burnout.
It happens when we do too much without resting. Even the World Health
Organization says burnout is when you feel:
- Very tired all the
time
- Don’t feel like doing
anything
- Can’t do your best work
Guess what? Burnout can
happen to anyone—even people who love God! That’s why God tells us to rest. In Exodus
20:8-10, God says to take a day to rest. Even God rested after making the
world!
Jesus also says in Matthew
11:28-30, “Come to me, all you who are tired and carrying heavy loads, and I
will give you rest.” Jesus wants to help us when life feels hard.
Why do we get burnout?
- Too much work or
school
- No time to rest
- Always feeling
stressed
- Trying to do everything
alone
But God has a better
way!
- Take breaks – Rest is
important.
- Pray and give your worries
to God – 1 Peter 5:7 says, “Cast all your cares on Him because He cares for
you.”
- Spend quiet time with
Jesus – Mark 6:31 says, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get
some rest.”
- Be with friends and family
who love God – Galatians 6:2 says, “Help each other with your burdens.”
When we feel weak, God gives
us strength! Isaiah 40:29-31 says, “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their
strength.”
Signs You Might Be Burned
Out
- Always tired
- Feeling sad or angry
- Hard to focus
- Don’t want to do things
you used to like
If you feel this way, it’s
time to slow down and rest in God.
Reflection Questions
- Do I feel tired or
stressed a lot?
- What makes me feel this
way?
- How can I take time to
rest and pray this week?
- Who can I talk to when I
feel tired or sad?
Prayer: Dear God, thank You
for loving me. When I feel tired and stressed, help me to rest in You. Give me
peace and joy again. I trust You to take care of me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Shalom
