CHILD-FRIENDLY A GOD-SHAPED HOLE
Memory Verse: Luke 10:42- "There is really only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it—and I won’t take it away from her!"_
Have you ever felt like
something is missing inside, even when you have toys, snacks, or fun with
friends? That feeling is called a God-shaped hole. It means there’s a special
space in your heart that only God can fill.
The Bible says in Ecclesiastes
3:11 that God put eternity in our hearts. That means we were made to know Him
and be close to Him.
There’s a song called “Life
Without Jesus is Like a Doughnut”—because doughnuts have a hole in the middle!
Just like that, our hearts feel empty without Jesus.
In Mark 10:17–22, a rich man
had lots of stuff, but still felt something was missing. That’s because only
Jesus can make our hearts truly happy.
Jesus visited two sisters—Mary
and Martha. Martha was busy cleaning and cooking, but Mary sat with Jesus and
listened. Jesus said Mary chose the one thing that matters most—spending time
with Him.
We all have a God-shaped
hole in our hearts. Only God can fill it with love, peace, and joy.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
- Do I feel like something
is missing inside sometimes?
- Am I spending time with
God every day?
- What is one way I can be
more like Mary and listen to Jesus?
PRAYER: Dear God, thank You
for loving me and wanting to be close to me. Help me to spend time with You
every day and not get too busy. Fill my heart with Your love and joy, in Jesus’
name, Amen.
Shalom
