CHILD-FRIENDLY RIDING ON THE BACK OF SOMEONE: LEARNING TO TRUST GOD MORE THAN PEOPLE
Memory Verse: Psalm 121:2 – “My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.”
Have you ever seen someone
ride on another person’s back? Maybe during a game or when someone is tired. It
means they are being carried because they can’t walk on their own.
Sometimes in life, we try to
let others carry us—not just physically, but by doing things for us, helping us
with problems, or even making decisions for us. That’s okay when we’re weak or
need help. But if we always depend on people and never learn to trust God or
grow ourselves, it can become a problem.
What the Bible Says
In the Bible, God wants us
to trust Him more than anyone else. He is strong, loving, and always ready to
help us.
Proverbs 3:5–6 (TLB) – “Trust
in the Lord completely; don’t ever trust yourself. In everything you do, put
God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success.”
Sometimes people rely too
much on others to do their work, solve their problems, or help them succeed.
That’s like riding on someone’s back all the time—even when you could walk on
your own!
What’s Not Okay
It’s not okay to:
- Expect others to always
help you without trying yourself.
- Use people to get what you
want.
- Be lazy and let others do
your part.
God wants us to grow, learn,
and trust Him—not just lean on people all the time.
Reflection Questions
- Do I ask God for help, or
only people?
- Have I ever let someone do
everything for me when I could have tried?
- Am I helping others, or
just expecting them to help me?
- How can I trust God more
this week?
Prayer: Dear God, thank You
for always being there to help me. Sometimes
I depend too much on others and forget to ask You. Please teach me to trust You more and grow
strong in faith. Help me to be kind,
responsible, and willing to do my part.
Amen.
Shalom
