41Jesus ansa am, “Marta! Marta! Yu dey too wahala yorsef about many tins, 42na only one tin dey important and Mary don choose di korrect tin and nobody go fit take am from am.”

 

The words “God-shaped hole” no dey Bible, but e mean say e get one big empty place inside human heart wey only God fit fill. Bible talk for Ecclesiastes 3:11 say, "God make everything perfect for im own time. E put eternity inside human heart, but man no fit understand wetin God dey do from beginning to the end." That one mean say God put desire for inside man wey only Him fit satisfy.

One man wey dem dey call “Doughnut Man” (Rob Evans) write one song wey dem call “Life Without Jesus Na Like Doughnut,” because doughnut get big hole for inside. But doughnut no get hole just for fun; na so e fit bake well.

For human case, life wey no get Jesus get big God-shaped hole for the heart, so life no go balance or cook well. Jesus tell story for Mark 10:17-22 to show say no rich thing, big title or many friends fit save person or satisfy am.

Plenty people dey waste their time dey chase things to satisfy dem instead of dey spend time with God. Ecclesiastes 6 talk about satisfaction, meaning for life, happiness, and blessing but e talk say all those things wey no get Christ na vanity.

The God-shaped hole na for people wey put God small small for their plans instead of make their whole life dey revolve around God as we see for Psalm 27:4. We suppose dey put God kingdom first like Matthew 6:33 talk. If we ignore God, we no go get true happiness and joy wey dey come from God.

People dey run about to find happiness for career, work, marriage, pickin and more, but those things no fit fill the God-shaped hole. E no bad to want those things, but no let dem spoil your spiritual life.

Jesus talk "one thing" for Martha side, and David also want that one thing—wey Jesus say na the most important, and na wetin Mary choose. Mary use the chance to learn from Jesus to fill her God-shaped hole while Martha dey busy. All of us get God-shaped hole for some area for our lives, and only God fit fill am. Na why we suppose dey always stay with God.

Plenty people dey look for meaning for wrong places, and dem no see say dem no get true happiness or blessing wey come from relationship with God.

God-shaped hole na empty space inside the soul wey only God fit fill. If person try fill am with things, friends, or achievement, e no go full. Only relationship with Jesus fit fill am and give true peace.

Without God, man life na just body and no soul. God tell Adam and Eve say if dem reject am, dem go die for Genesis 2:17. Their body no die that same day, but dem die spiritually. Na wetin go happen to people wey get God-shaped hole.

If you no get Christ, you no get power to fight sin or Satan, and you no get real life.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

- Which part of my life dey empty or I no dey happy despite wetin I get?

- I dey try fill my God-shaped hole with things rather than with God?

- How I fit make sure say I dey spend more time with God every day?

- Wetin be “one thing” wey I go choose like Mary?

- I dey always look for God kingdom first?
