1 Korintians 15:58 “So my friends, make una dey strong and nor let anytin shake una. Make una always dey do God work, bikos una know sey, evritin wey una do for God, get gain.

 

Motivation na wetin dey make you wan do something or try your best. Na di reason wey dey make you get up from bed in di morning, work hard for school, help people, or continue even when wahala dey. Motivation na wetin dey push person to succeed for anything wey dem dey do. In short: Motivation na di “push” wey dey inside you wey dey help you do things!

Plenty motivational speakers and speeches dey everywhere today. Dem dey talk and dey encourage make person chase after wetin dem feel say dem need or wan achieve.

Motivation na important tool and skill wey person gats get for any area for society. If you dey relate with people, you go sometimes need to motivate dem to do certain things.

But our motivation—the reason why we dey do things—suppose come from better heart and the wish to please God, not just to impress people or collect reward. Colossians 3:23 talk say “Whatever you do, do am with all your heart as if na for the Lord, not just for people.” E mean say make we try our best because we wan honour God, not just for people to praise us.

Wetim dey motivate us to continue? Wetin be our reason to get up every day and do wetin we dey do?

We all need motivation sometimes; we no fit do am alone. E no mean say we weak or too wise, motivation dey inside us from birth and we need am to go the extra mile. When motivation nor dey, but we wan do something, we need that push to move.

Even if e sweet to hear another person encourage you say you fit do well, as believer, our motivation get to come from Bible and God, not just from things wey dey happen around us.

David talk say na God dey push am to do wetin dey make God happy for Psalm 40:8—true true, if God no help person, where person go go? Nowhere! If God no dey push us, who go do am? Nobody!

God declaration for Isaiah 49:1-3 for Him servants fit motivate us to reason as David do for Psalm 73:25 say, we nor get anybody for heaven or earth wey fit help us finish wetin God don plan for us.

Our motivation as Christians dey come from di wish to get peace with God and follow Jesus example for John 4:34 make our life get motivation.

Bible full with plenty motivational words for different needs.

Ezra 6 tell di story of how dem dey try build God house, get wahala and confam for 14 years, but Zechariah and di leaders, with God power, motivation make dem finish God house.

As believers, na Jesus Spirit dey motivate us to do anything we put our mind for, knowing say we get energy and wisdom from Him to do anything.

Solomon for Ecclesiastes 4 look motivation and talk say nothing dey satisfy person—na true. As Christians, we get to sabi people own motivation, everybody need help to achieve goal.

People dey dey motivated by different things—to provide for family, make person proud, or finish hard work.

But Paul talk for Philippians 3:14 say wetin dey heaven better pass wetin dey earth now. So our motivation focus na to sacrifice make others sabi Christ love.

Even our prayer, as James 4:3 talk, suppose come from correct intention and not from selfish mind. Sometimes, we just need small motivation to make our potential dey work! Make God be our motivation!

REFLECTION QUESTIONS 

- Wetin dey push you for wetin you dey do? Na to succeed, to show say you fit, or to honour person? 

- How much the Bible dey push you to do better and be better? Why?

- Who dey light your motivation fire pass: God, fellow Christians, books or motivational speakers?

- Motivation dey enough to keep you focused when wahala show for your goal?

PRAYER: Lord, I pray make I always remember say na you dey weigh my motive. Help me focus on your word and not on people, in Jesus name, amen.
