PIDGIN: WHAT QUALIFIED YOU?

Romans 5:7-9 “Nobody go won die for anoda pesin wey dey good for God eye, aldo somebody go fit die for pesin wey good well-well. 8But God show how en love for us big rish, wen E send Christ kom die for us, even doh wi still dey sin. 9Naw, wi dey rite bikos of Christ blood and na dis blood go save us from God vexnashon.

 

 

Qualification na when person get skill, or experience wey you need to do something. E fit also mean say you get certificate or paper wey show say you don learn or train for work, school, or any area. For example, if you wan join football team, you get to sabi play football—na qualification be that! If you finish school and you get your certificate, na qualification be that. If you sabi swim, you qualify to join swim race. So, qualification na wetin make pesin ready or sabi to do something well!

For Bible, qualification mean say you dey ready or God approve you to do something—especially to serve am or help others. For Bible, qualification no be only skill or certificate, but na heart, faith, and obedience to God. 

As 1 Samuel 16:7 talk am, “God no dey look how people dey see surface things put. People go dey look outside, but na inside heart God dey check.” God dey pick people wey love am and ready obey, even if dem no feel “qualified.”

So, wetin qualify you for wetin you dey do? For the world system, you must get qualification do some things, but for God kingdom, God no dey expect make you get wetin world dey look for before you fit work for am. 

Christians na justified people, that one mean say God don declare them right because of Jesus blood wey flow for the cross. Na this one make dem fit dey waka and dey live right life, no be by their own power at all.

But these days, people want make we dey try pass human test before dem go allow you work for God. But na God dey give us wetin we need do Him work, e no dey wait make we go “find” am before we qualify. How God take give Moses, David, Esther, and others the strength, wisdom, and courage to serve—even wen they demself no feel qualified!

How about you? You dey do wetin you dey do because you feel say you qualify? Wetin really qualify you? 2 Corinthians 3:5 vdey clear: “No be say we sabi everything by ourself...but na God give us our own competence.” Simple, na God dey qualify person. That one mean say if you dey willing, faithful, and trust God to help you, you dey ready. God fit use anybody wey ready to hear and obey Am!

Ephesians 2:8-10 talk say na “grace” qualify us pass works. E no be by your ability, but your growth, and faith, as you dey rooted inside Christ. God dey use and qualify people by Him grace, no be their own level or book. 

Nobody fit do God work just because dem get “anointed mentors, fathers or mothers in the Lord.” Wetin this one mean sef? Matthew 23:9, people dey follow “spiritual leader” now pass as dem dey follow God.

Some people still think say you get to go “seminary” or “school of theology” to qualify to serve God. Wetin 1 John 2:27 talk about say “You get anointing already—weh God give you, e never comot. You no need another teacher. As the anointing dey teach you everything wey be true, make you remain inside Christ.” If na true, and e be true, then nothing we do by ourself na go qualification.

Some others don use their own hand qualify demself come dey feel say dem fit do God work without Holy Spirit. But the main “qualification” be say you go dey rooted for Jesus and the Spirit dey enpower you according to John 15:5; and Colossians 2:6-7.

You dey qualify? Who qualify you—God, people or yourself?

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

- Which time you don feel say you qualify do something, and who give you that mind—na God, person or yourself?

- How you feel if you know say na your heart God dey check, not just qualification, for Him service?

- You dey try use human way take earn God own approval sometimes? Why or why not?

- How you fit take listen more to God calling and anointing and nor dey depend on paper or people opinion?
