CHILD-FRIENDLY A BOX OF USELESS GIFTS!
Proverbs 18:16 “A gift opens the way and ushers the giver into the presence of the great.”
Memory Verse James 1:17:
“Every good and perfect gift is from above…”
Have You Ever Gotten a Gift
You Didn’t Like?
Maybe it was something you
couldn’t use, didn’t understand, or didn’t need. Gifts are supposed to make us
happy and show love—but sometimes, they don’t.
What Is a Gift?
A gift is something you give
to someone without expecting anything back. It’s a way to show love, kindness,
or celebration. The Bible teaches us that giving is good when it comes from the
heart.
What Makes a Gift Useless?
- It doesn’t match the
person’s needs.
- It’s given just to
impress, not to bless.
- It’s not thoughtful or
loving.
Sometimes people give gifts
that mean something to them, but not to the person receiving it. That’s why we
should always think carefully before giving.
My Box of Gifts
I once had a box full of
gifts people gave me. Some were useful, but others weren’t. One was a fancy
cigarette lighter—but I don’t smoke! That gift was both useless and worthless
to me.
But guess what? Some things
that were useless to me were useful to someone else. So I gave them away to
people who could enjoy them!
God’s Gifts Are Always Good!
God gives us the best gifts—like
Jesus, love, peace, and special talents. He wants us to use those gifts to help
others and make the world better.
What Can We Learn?
- Give gifts that are
thoughtful and helpful.
- Use your gifts from God to
bless others.
- Don’t ignore your
spiritual gifts—they’re valuable!
REFLECTION QUESTIONS
- Why do you give gifts—just
to impress others or to show love?
- Have you ever given
something without really meaning it? How did that feel?
- What makes a gift valuable
to God, to you, and to others?
- If God opened your “gift
box,” would He find love, kindness, and obedience—or just empty things?
PRAYER: Father, help me to
give good, useful, and loving gifts that glorify You and bless others. In
Jesus’ name, Amen.
Shalom
