PIDGIN A BOX OF USELESS GIFT!

You ever don collect gift wey just make you feel somehow? Maybe the gift no fit the occasion, too cheap or too expensive, or just no get meaning for you. For real, that kind gift ndey useless to you. Gift suppose to make person happy or be blessing, but e nor always dey like that.

Gift wey person give suppose come from heart, not because say dem force you, but because you wan bless another, as Bible talk for 2 Corinthians 9:7, “make una give wetin una fit, not by force, because God like person wey dey happy to give.” No be every time we go say “na the thought dey count” - sometimes e nor count.

Useless gift na that one wey nor mean anything to the receiver. Sometimes people dey give gift because say dem wan showoff, or dem wan impress others, or just to fulfill all righteousness, not because of love. The gift fit fine for eye, but e empty for meaning.

For one time, because of work, I receive plenty gifts from people - clients and their family. I gather all for one box for safe keeping so e nor go scatter everywhere. When I come dey sort am one day, I realize say most of the gifts nor get use for me, but maybe e mean plenty to those wey give am.

Useless nor mean say e no get value at all! When I check am, I see say some people give me gift wey mean something to them, but nor mean anything for me. One time, person give me fine lighter, but I nor dey smoke, so that kind gift na useless and worthless gift to me.

Gift dey sweet if person fit use am. Gifts dey build friendship and open doors. Dem dey show love and kindness.

Jesus talk for Luke 6:38 say, “Give and e go come back to you. Good measure, pressed, shaken, overflowing” - blessing nor dey just for gift, but na joy, peace and favour wey dey follow good giving.

Gift na symbol of love, commitment and care. When you find perfect gift for person, the happiness dey plenty when you see am dey use am. Na so God dey treat us, He give us special gifts - spiritual and physical - wey dey build church and bless plenty people. God dey happy when we use all the gifts well, for Him glory.

God gift to us no dey useless - James 1:17 talk say God dey give “good and perfect” gift. God start with Him biggest gift - Jesus. Because of love, John 3:16 show say God gift Jesus to world. This love mean we dey collect different gifts from God - spiritual, physical, financial, material as Psalm 84:11 say.

You don ever collect or give useless gift before? I throw way many wey nor good for anybody, but the ones wey I fit give to people wey need am, I do so.

Wetin dey useless to you fit dey useful for another person. No ever look down on your own gift, especially your spiritual gift. Na God give us the best gift, na Him be ultimate giver. 2 Corinthians 8:12-14 talk say make you give according to wetin you get!

REFLECTION QUESTIONS 

- Why you dey give gift - to show people or to show love? 

- You don ever give something wey you nor mean before? How you feel? 

- Wetin dey make gift valuable - for God, for you, or for another? 

- If God open your “gift box”, e go find good gift like love, kindness, obedience or just empty things?

PRAYER: Papa, help me learn to dey give better, useful and valuable gift to honour you and bless the receiver for Jesus name, amen.
