1 Timothy 2:9 – “I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes.”

 

Does God Care About What We Wear?

Yes! God cares about how we dress because it shows what’s in our hearts. The Bible doesn’t give us a list of clothes to wear, but it teaches us to dress in a way that is modest, respectful, and honours God.

What Is Modesty?

Modesty means:

- Not showing too much of your body

- Not dressing to get the wrong kind of attention

- Choosing clothes that are neat, clean, and respectful

God wants us to shine from the inside out—not just look good on the outside. What matters most is a kind heart, a gentle spirit, and a love for Jesus.

What the Bible Says:

- 1 Peter 3:3–4 – Don’t focus only on fancy clothes or jewellery. Instead, let your beauty come from your heart.

- Genesis 3:7 – When Adam and Eve sinned, they realized they were naked and covered themselves. Clothes help us stay respectful and covered.

- Proverbs 31:25 – “She is clothed with strength and dignity.” That means we should wear clothes that show we are strong, wise, and respectful.

Why Does It Matter?

- The way we dress shows others who we are.

- As children of God, we want to dress in a way that honours Him.

- We don’t want to copy the world’s idea of fashion if it goes against God’s ways.

- People should be able to tell we love Jesus—even by how we dress!

REFLECTION QUESTIONS FOR KIDS:

- What does dressing modestly mean to me?

- Do my clothes show that I love and respect God?

- Would someone know I’m a Christian by how I dress?

- How can I be a good example to others with my clothing choices?

PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for making me in Your image. Help me to dress in a way that shows I belong to You. Teach me to make good choices about what I wear. Let my clothes and my heart show Your love, kindness, and truth. Help me to be a good example to others, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
