CHILD-FRIENDLY ARISE AND SHINE!

Memory Verse: Isaiah 60:1 – “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.”

What is darkness?

Darkness isn’t just about night-time. In the Bible, darkness can mean:

- Being confused

- Feeling sad or scared

- Not knowing God

- Doing things that hurt others or ourselves.

But guess what? God doesn’t want us to stay in the dark! He wants us to live in His light—full of love, truth, and joy.

Jesus is the Light!

In Isaiah 9:2, the Bible says people who were walking in darkness saw a great light. That light is Jesus! He came to show us the way to God and help us live in His love.

Why do some people stay in the dark?

Sometimes people:

- Feel like they’re not good enough

- Think God doesn’t love them

- Like doing things their own way

But God is always calling us to come into the light. He loves us no matter what and wants us to live in His truth.

What does it mean to arise and shine?

Arise means get up! Don’t stay stuck in sadness, fear, or mistakes.

Shine means let God’s light show through you! Be kind, loving, and full of joy so others can see Jesus in you.

Bible Reminders

- Genesis 1:3 – God said, “Let there be light!” and there was light.

- 1 Peter 2:9 – We are chosen to live in God’s light.

- Colossians 1:13 – God rescued us from darkness.

- Psalm 18:28– God lights up our path.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

1. What does “darkness” look like in your life or around you?

2. Have you ever felt like you didn’t deserve God’s love? What helped you feel better?

3. What part of your life needs more of God’s light?

4. How can you “shine” for Jesus at school, home, or with friends?

PRAYER: Dear God, thank You for being my light. Help me to get up and shine for You every day. Show me how to live in Your love and truth. Let others see Your light in me so they can know You too. Amen.

Shalom
