CHILD-FRIENDLY BE STILL!
Psalm 40:6 – “You take no delight in sacrifices or offerings. Now that you have made me listen, I finally understand.”
Have you ever tried to sit
still and be quiet? It’s not easy! But sometimes, being still is exactly what
we need to do to hear from God.
What Does “Be Still” Mean?
To be still means:
- Stop moving
- Be quiet
- Calm down
- Listen to God
In the Bible, God tells us
to be still so we can hear Him better. When we’re always busy, noisy, or
worried, it’s hard to hear His voice.
Bible Stories That Teach Us
to Be Still:
- Exodus 14:14 – “The Lord
will fight for you; you need only to be still.” When the Israelites were
scared, God told them to stop and trust Him.
- Mark 4:39 – Jesus said,
“Peace! Be still!” and the storm stopped. Jesus can calm the storms in your
life too—just be still and trust Him.
- Isaiah 26:3 – “You will
keep in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on You.” When we think about
God and trust Him, He gives us peace.
Why Is Being Still
Important?
- It helps us hear God’s
voice.
- It shows we trust God.
- It gives us peace when we
feel scared or worried.
- It helps us grow closer to
Jesus.
When Should We Be Still?
- When we’re scared or
confused
- When we pray or read the
Bible
- When we’re waiting for God
to answer
- When we feel like rushing
ahead
