CHILD-FRIENDLY CAUTIOUS COVENANT!
Joshua 9:14–15 – “So the men took some of their food, but they did not ask the Lord what they should do. Joshua made peace with them and agreed to let them live.”
Have you ever made a
decision without asking God first? That’s what happened in this story. Some
people called the Gibeonites tricked Joshua and the Israelites. They wore old
clothes and carried mouldy bread to make it look like they came from far away.
But they were actually neighbours!
Joshua and the leaders
believed their story and made a promise to protect them—but they forgot to ask
God first.
What Can We Learn?
- Always pray before making
decisions.
- Things aren’t always what
they seem.
- God can turn mistakes into
something good.
Even though the Gibeonites
lied, Joshua kept his promise. He didn’t break it—he showed **grace** and gave
them a new job helping the Israelites.
Why Is This Important?
Sometimes people may trick
us or things may look good on the outside. That’s why we need to ask God for
help before we say “yes” to something big. God sees everything and knows what’s
true.
MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 3:5–6
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
REFLECTION QUESTIONS FOR
KIDS:
- Have I ever made a choice
without praying first? What happened?
- How can I remember to ask
God before making decisions?
- What should I do if
someone tricks me or lies to me?
- Can God still use my
mistakes to do something good?
PRAYER: Dear Lord, help me
to stop and pray before I make choices. Teach me to see the truth and not just
what looks good. If I make a mistake, help me fix it with kindness and wisdom.
Let my promises show Your love and truth. Amen.
Shalom
